You know, I sort of agree. I like the concept and I like aspects of it but it falls a little flat for me. I love it because it's Stevie and I love all the accoutrements, but I don't love Dave Stewart's presence and am tolerable of Mike Campbell just because I think he adds a goofy, quirky vibe that is cool. Just to play director, it would probably have been cool to just leave him standing in the desert playing guitar. I don't know why. Or I would have liked it better if Mike & Dave were both just left standing in the desert with the bus driving around in circles and Stevie writing in her journal looking out the widow at them. LOL.

I can just do without Dave's presence in her videos. I don't have anything against him but what the crap - he's not even singing on these two singles and is featured in the videos. I guess he's cheap... and free. And, we all know what's cheaper than free...

Yeh, I get ya. Jeez-o. What else do we want? Och, she's so bonnie and we're so lucky that she isn't retired and away speaking to celery. I mean, jeez-o, sincerely, EVERYONE just take a moment: Imagine if you were a Chris fan??

Good point. I guess that would suck...

(not that I'm not a 'fan' but you know...)

I have to say though that if Stevie wanted to retire, I would be happy for her. There are two artists that I've loved through the years that come to mind. One, I wish desperately would retire and the other retired prematurely, to my thinking. I'd love it if she would come out of retirement even briefly for special events, but on the other hand I wonder what if she can't sing or dance anymore? I would always remember that over what she accomplished previously. So, it's up to the individual to make the call. Some people may go to their grave entertaining regardless of the quality of performance they can give. And others, like Chris, choose to enjoy a well-earned retirement and left their fans with memories of greatness.

I love to see Chris come out of retirement.I do miss her.Yes some artists sing until they fall apart and still sing.I listen to the Nashville's Grand Ole Opry every week end online. Some of those country artists are about 80 years young.Little Jimmy Dickens is 90 years young and he's still entertaining cracking jokes and singing his heart out.most of them stil sound great.Stevie will be the edge of 90 still singing EO17.God willing.I'll be in my late 70''s..

Yeah, Little Jimmy is still going and it's great that he can but sometimes it's hard to watch artists you've loved get to a point where they can't sing any more. George Jones is the one I was referring to - a man who I consider to be the voice of country music. It's obvious he has emphysema or some kind of breathing issues now and his once golden voice is no longer capable of hitting notes that defined his signature sound.

I'd actually be cool with it, too, either way. What I'm getting at is that Stevie is, in an admittedly rather literal sense, still offering something.

But wait - I just read back that paragraph and no, it's more than that. I know this isn't going to be popular, but even when I try to be popular I fail on the Ledge, so I might as well be hung, drawn and quartered for being honestly marginal, so here's my honest opinion: Stevie Nicks has always been more of an honest-to-god artist than C McVie. That's how it strikes me. And for that reason alone my world will always have been that little bit more interesting for the existence of Stevie than for the existence of Christine. Christine was (past tense), I think (and I think she'd agree), a kind of Tin Pan Alley songwriter - a position that I, actually, do not think is inherently less valid in how it hits the listener. Songs aim to stir things, and hey, there will be as many weddings that echo to the strains of 'Songbird' as do 'Crystal' or 'Landslide', that's for sure, and why not?

But look, whilst I don't regard Christine as in way lacking because she's retired. I just think it's all *bonus* for we who like Stevie a lot, atm. It's not a competition. Just simply that if I were a Ledgie who would adore to have CM still active, then we SN fans are surely in clover?

It's my birthday, btw. Feel free to be kind.

Loz

Beautifully done. My one complaint is the shots go by too quickly.

^^^ Thanks, Macfanforever. I appreciate it, with all due attention to not driving the thread off-topic.
