Default Which sessions are these songs from?

I've always wondered about when Stevie recorded the songs below and if they were left off of other albums or recorded solely for the compilations they appear on. Considering they're FM songs I doubt the whole band reconveined just to record a couple songs:

No Questions Asked (Tango reject?)

Paper Doll & Christine's Love Shines (Behind the Mask cuts?)

Anyone know? NQA and PD are two of my favourite Stevie tracks from the late 80s/early 90s period.

I think all those tracks were cut after Lindsey left the band. ChiliD (Steve) would likely know more...

I think you're right, they sound like it - I wonder where Make Me A Mask came from then as he'd left the band when The Chain compilation was put together.

I think Make Me A Mask was a Mirage cut.. then again it could very well be from the Tango era.

As far as I remember No Questions Asked and As Long As You Follow were recorded after Tango during sessions for the 1988 Greatest Hits collection. These sessions were specially arranged to ease both Billy and Rick into the Mac recording process before the full on Behind The Mask sessions that occued in'89.

Love Shines, Heart Of Stone, Paper Doll still confuse me, however Rick Vito did discuss this in his Penguin Q & A which I believe is still available on this site

And I seem to remember that Make Me A Mask was a cradle outtake

Would be great to get some verification on these outstanding questions, would also like to know who actually is playing and singing on Love Shines, Heart Of Stone, Paper Doll and Make Me A Mask, this timeline of the band and how it morphed into the Time era band is still somewhat confusing. Maybe a new Mick (loose) biography is needed to cover the post 1990 band up to the present day.

That Lewry book places it as a Mirage track, but then there has been a lot of conversation about how inaccurate it is.

yep I definitely know No Questions Asked was specific to the Greatest Hits album. I agree it's a great song and should have been the lead single. But Paper Doll has always been a mystery to me. I also love the song and agree with its choice of being a single but I wish it had come from Behind The Mask which is the only album I believe to not have had a Stevie sung or penned single culled from.

Love Shines and Paper Doll definitely sound like they're from the Behind the Mask sessions, I can hear it's the other two guys on those tracks.

Paper Doll is a real odd ball - I love it and it's one of my favourite tracks of that period but when you actually look at the lyrics and it's construct, it's pretty light-weight - I think it's definitely a case of the sum being greater than the parts. Has it ever been played live?
