First of all, converging on Red Rocks was, as Stevie would say herself, a "happening." It becomes as much about the experience of being there in that mythical/magical setting and the camaraderie of the shared experience as the lady, her music and her aura. For a few moments on August 9, 2011, the world was a slightly less lonesome place.

Secondly, what can I say about everyone who came out to hang? Anna, Dani, Grace, Liam, Jannie, Christopher, Shawn... and everyone else... it was so much f***ing fun! I feel lucky to know you all. Thanks for helping to make this one of my most fun trips ever (altitude sickness notwithstanding).

But one thing I need to get off my chest... What the fork was up with the so-called "handicapped" front row section? Yes, there were a handful of people who visibly appeared to have major physical impairment, and I feel tremendously grateful that they were able to enjoy the show up front. But what of the rest of the 95% of the bozos up there dancing around, drinking and acting like total douche nozzles? Handicapped? Really? Last time I checked, bad plastic surgery is not a physical handicap! You know who you are!

Otherwise, I have little to add to what has already been said. Was this Stevie's best concert ever? Probably not. But was it the most special and magical? Hmmm... it's definitely up there. There is something to be said about looking out at the crowd and having flashbacks to a video I grew up watching. Those were the very same sandstone rocks of my post-adolescent dreams.

Oh, and a few of my better shots. Still trying to figure out how to use the new camera... videos to come hopefully soon.

Christopher, this one's for you :

Thanks Ed .It sounds like you had a ball.Awesome photos.

Nice shots by the way!
Um, many of these people clearly gamed a system that was not intended to benefit them. I saw some hippie dude wheeling around a frail old woman who had to be at least in her 90s. Is she a Stevie fan? Possible, but not likely. Is the hippie dude wheeling her around a Stevie fan? Most definitely.

People in the front row had to get green bracelets, which meant they were handicapped or were assisting the handicapped. I know that immediately in front of me, EVERYONE was standing, jumping up and down and drinking- not exactly handicapped, and there were no wheelchairs or other physical implements to be found in my vicinity. I don't begrudge people from getting good seats; it happens to me all the time. I only begrudge people gaming the system and then acting like entitled sh**stains from their ill-gotten gains.

Well, I got back this morning from Denver and I only have a few things I want to say. WHat an experience it was. This was my second time seeing her there (2005) and it was worth it, despite all the drama. I had a wonderful time hanging out with Grace, Ed, Dani, and Anna. Ed, a very special thank you for being willing to pick me up and drop me off from the bus station. WIthout you buddy, I probably couldn't have gone, so THANK YOU!

I saw the hippie dude pimping out his mother(?) and shame on him. But it's really no different than pimping out your 4 year old son/daughter/niece/nephew just to get a piece of the action, I have witnessed this at many a show. I was in 2nd row and got a bracelet and I was there by myself. A lot of people in the first row were couples/singles who rightfully paid for their seats which in turn gave them the privilege to enjoy the show just like you and me.

I think it was for the big screen though. All shows are filmed for that purpose.
Yeah, I know what your sayin. It just looked like there were more cameras rolling than would be just for that. I guess we'll find out later.

That's so funny. I was seriously thinking of doing something bad to that dude. Especially when he was dancing around, be-bopping to Soldier's Angel.

I wonder if this was the owner of the now-defunct Celebrity Vintage clothing store that used to be on Colfax Avenue in Denver, and then on Broadway. He was sitting in front of Curtis and I and his mother had a HUGE bouquet of roses. He got in a minor scuffle at one point because he kept pushing his mom closer and closer to the stage.

He's....a character. That's the nicest way I can put it.
