If she took Dreams out of her set, I'd miss it, but I couldn't care less about Landslide. Or Rhiannon, unless she just did a slow piano version.

wonderful, isn't it? I hope it stays out. And I'm thrilled to see Leather and Lace back in!! I'm thinking realistically here...I don't think all the IYD songs are gonna stay in the set. I'm guessing one or two will be dropped, replaced with more familiar tunes. I could (and hope) I'm just going on the history of past tours.

Okay I've had a little rest and time to recover. I met up with fellow Ledgies at the restaurant and it was unsettling but fun! Unsettling in that I was by myself in Colorado with a bunch of people I'd never met in person but feeling as though I knew some of them already. Weird, but really cool. There were a few folks I would have liked to spend more time with, but maybe another time! The temperature difference was so dramatic in Denver that Dani and I had to run to a store so I could buy a tank top before the show. It is about 20 degrees cooler where I am staying and I was way over dressed.
After dinner we headed to the venue and I am going to get the negative stuff out of the way first. The people in the crowd were the rudest I have ever encountered at a show. I'm not going to waste space with details, but I was really shocked at the stupidity and meanness of some of the people I encountered. Two grown women behind me actually got into a fist fight and had to be removed. At a Stevie show! When I finally made my way back to my assigned seat (before Stevie even started) the woman seated there told me no! When I showed her my ticket, she still gave me an attitude. Red Rocks was amazing. It was beautiful and I could not believe how close I was to the stage. I actually had 5th row, but by the end of the show I was down front with Dani, Christopher, and a few others I don't know the names of. I got to hang out with DrummerDeanna for a bit before the show which was very cool. Stevie looked so lovely. I am a sucker for the live experience, and I am grateful for that. I thought she looked and sounded fantastic. High points for me: Annabel Lee- This song translates really well live. What a great song! Ghosts are Gone- I loved her energy and how she pulled out the tambourine for a bit of a strut around the stage. Moonlight- I agree the arrangement was a little weak, but it was exciting for me to watch because I love the song. I loved the crouching down and intensity from her. Rhiannon- I know, it is old and some feel uninspired but I thought she was very intense with it. Edge of Seventeen- Really. I was surprised too but it was so much fun. As others have mentioned, the wind picked up and made it very dramatic and wild. Not to mention the white dress was stunning. Singing with Christopher was a total blast and being in that moment was very cool. I almost got a handshake but in the end, some guy in a red shirt blazed his way in front of me so not only did I miss the hand, but I couldn't even SEE her until she was past us. Thanks guy in red shirt! A few things I remember: She told the audience that she hadn't rehearsed what she would say between songs, so she was winging it (I think she said that phrase, don't quote me). she said something about not going into long drawn out explanations between songs. She talked about how much she loved Red Rocks and how she believes her life changed after that 1985 show (saved her life?). She gave a long and emotional talk before Soldier's Angel about her Walter Reed experience. She was very sweet when introducing her vocal coach (what an interesting and fun surprise). Her boots kept sliding down and she would adjust them for time to time. I noticed that Sharon watched Stevie with a very sweet (loving? proud?) expression on her face for much of the show. I have been known to feel disappointed about Stevie's lack of emotional presence at past shows, and I really did not get that feeling at this show at all. It seemed to fly bye. When she ended with Love Is, poor Dani was sobbing behind me so I held her hand-lol. It was very cool to feel like I knew some of the Ledgies forever. Thank you to Grace, Dani, Ed, Anna, Emily, Cammie, Deanna, David, Karma (heh, Matt I think?), Curtis, Marlene, Randy, Christopher (seriously that Edge moment was so awesome), and the others that I am blanking out on, for being so fun and being a part of this special night. I wish I could have hung out after the show, but maybe next time! My back and legs were KILLING me after the show but it was totally worth it. |

She probably is, to be honest. When that lady started singing 'Landslide' to her on the news Stevie rolled her eyes
It's a fabulous song, but it's had a LOT of exposure lately, and I imagine it's tiresome that that's all anyone (read: casual fans / general public) ever wants to hear her sing.

I just saw a clip of a recent interview where the interviewer started singing Landslide and Stevie rolled her eyes.

I don't like Love is either. Has Anyone Ever Written is the perfect closer.

Also, there was that interview from backstage at Jay Leno where the guy was like, "You wrote my favorite song of all time, Landslide!" and Stevie kind of made a face and goes, "The song that never dies...." ![]() Love Is has grown on me, and I do love the song, but I think HAEWAFY works better as a closer, because it's kind of like she's singing it to the crowd... idk, if that makes sense.

Eh...HAEWAFY is a real downer of a song. I'm good with either Love Is or BATB.
