Oh yeah. I know "Walls", not sure on the other. I count "Sea of Heartbreak" they did with Johnny Cash too.

I'll check out the Johnny one, but "The Man Who Loves Women" is a really great little song. I dig it. I dig so much by TP though. I consider him an amazing songwriter and he considers Lindsey to be brilliant (if you check out his book he talks about LB in it).

How do y'all think this self-release will work? Will the album be available in brick & mortar stores, or will we have to order it online?

That's a really good question. I would venture to say it might be available at Best Buy as far as in-store, but I think that's goign to be about it other than online sales.

He's being distributed by Fontana which is a "indie" arm of UMG. So, I'm thinking Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, FYE, basically any place that has a more extensive music section. Also, more major indie stores like Amoeba, Grimey's here in Nashville, ear X-tacy in Louisville, etc.

But I think they will all be in limited quantities.

Most Barnes & Nobles I've been in have a TINY music section - top 20 sellers or such. I doubt you'll be able to find the album in the average B&N unless LB has a sudden resurgence on the charts! (Not that that would be a bad thing...)

Really? All the Barnes and Nobles I've been in have a pretty big (for a brick and mortar store anyway) selection of music usually in with the DVDs and with its own security system just for that section. They generally tend to carry less mainstream titles too. Not huge quantities and usually not in primo spots, mind you, but they're there.

You can preorder it on their site (I just checked) so I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they actually carry it in their stores. ::

I did say "most..." Here in Queens (and also in Brooklyn), the average B&N has a small rack at the front of "popular" CDs and DVDs, with maybe about 3-4 of each on the shelf. In the city, the Union Square B&N (and probably some other "central hub"-located ones) do have a separate music/DVD section.

I have no idea what they do in other states. Well, I was in one in Indiana in April, and they seemed to have lots of everything, so maybe it's a space issue?

I haven't ever bought a CD from B&N anyway, or from Best Buy in a long time. I used to like getting CDs from Circuit City - they were cheaper!

We, in the South, like our Barnes and Nobles super-sized just like our McDonald's meals.

I used to go in the one in Opry Mills (pre-Nashville flood) and look around. They're always so much more expensive than anywhere else so unless there was a sale, I didn't buy anything from them. I think the last thing I bought were some Emmylou Harris CDs they had for like $7.99 when "All I Intended To Be" came out. Best Buy is another one that, unless it's some kind of sale or an exclusive, I'm not going to go get a CD from there either.

I did get my Stevie "In Your Dreams" at one in Franklin/Brentwood, TN because I wanted the extra track. And that was all sorts of a cluster trying to figure out which customer service desk was actually holding my online order.

I got pretty lucky with IYD... I got the B&N version online (although I'm probably the only person who hasn't suffered through "Cheaper Than Free" yet since my special B&N CD, in exchange for having the extra song, won't play the last track!) and then I won a Q104 Work Perks draw for a regular copy for free. So I have both.

I don't think I'd ever buy music or DVDs from B&N unless it was something exclusive.

Considering none of the Best Buys in my area are stocking the new John Hiatt ~ and that's on a pretty big indie label ~ I seriously doubt Best Buy will be carrying copies of SWS in their stores!
