That's one of the reasons I'm glad it was chosen as a single. I'd rather court country than AC. Country sells more. Michele

Stevie Nicks rasps through 'Edge of Seventeen' on 'America's Got Talent':

Stevie Nicks is having a pretty big week.
That episode of South Park that sets its closing montage to Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” was on again last night, and she hit the stage with the men of Maroon 5 for a run through of “Leather and Lace” on Monday. Then she made another live appearance on Wednesday, strolling out onto the America’s Got Talent set and plowing through her undisputed classic “Edge of Seventeen.”
Since America’s Got Talent has been doing crazy ratings numbers, you probably went ahead and watched this live. But just in case you didn’t, feast your eyes on Stevie and her witchcraft after the jump:
Nicks starts out pretty strong, and the crowd certainly seems into it (mostly because “Edge of Seventeen” is a fantastically intense song with a killer hook), but there are an awful lot of missed notes in there. Though she looks great and performs with confidence, she’s pretty much blown off the stage by her back-up singers.
While a little bit of rasp is usually good for a song as cutting as “Edge of Seventeen,” Nicks sounds like she’s been smoking two packs of Camels simultaneously through the exhaust pipe of a Lincoln Continental. And let’s face it, that’s too much rasp.
But what do you think? Should we cut Stevie some slack because she’s a bona fide legend, or should she stick to making cameos in videos starring Beyoncé? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Like I said before, this review is completely mindless, so I try not to dwell on it.

Anyone with any sort of musical ear can hear that Stevie is not 'missing notes' as he puts it - she's singing a lower harmony part that is perfectly intune with the song and very intentionally done. Like Dreams and Rhiannon and all the others she doesn't have the range for anymore, instead of changing the key, she just sings it differently from the album version. Which, by the way, she never really sung it like anyway, not even in 1981.

The fact that he can't hear the difference only highlights how ill-fit he is to be reviewing a musical act in the first place.

I just saw her performance of Edge. OMG!! She was great. I agree with what someone on the board said, there were times she looked acted like it was years ago...especially the end of song. I can't believe how good she looked.

Does anyone have this performance in HQ to upload? I was at the Heart/Def Leppard concert that night & totally missed it. And the versions on youtube are too pixellated & low quality to download. Thanks in advance!
