Default Does anyone have a good quality mp3 of Circle Dance?

Hey guys

As well as Stevie, I'm a huge Bonnie Raitt fan and so I really like Stevie's take on Circle Dance (also, that whole Bonnie album Longing In Their Hearts is great). I thought/assumed that I had Stevie's version on my laptop somewhere but I can't find it - bah!

The only version I have is from Soundstage and I'm really don't like Vanessa Carlton's vocals on the track - I don't think they add anything and in fact detract from the weariness of Stevie's usual vocal that the song needs. I love what Stevie does with it.

Can anyone help me out with a good quality solo version? I've found a few videos on youtube that I could convert but the crowd noise is too much and can barely hear Stevie. I know there are only ever live versions but there must be a really good one out there somewhere... thanks!

Apologies if this should be in the live performance request thread.. I forgot about it. If any mods want to move this then obviously feel free.

oh nice! Yes. I wish Vanessa was not on this track also. This is a song for a daughter(or son) to a father. Since they are both of different parents it just seemed, contrived.

I could never really figure out the relationship in this song. I've thought about it but just assumed they were lovers for the "Now it's time to let you go" part as in breaking it off.

Maybe it's just about family relationships in general. The "bitter heirloom" line could certainly refer to parent/child but the rest seems more like lovers. I have liner notes from Bonnie somewhere. I'll go look...

Oh, and thanks for the mp3!

Yes please let us know. Did you download my version? Thoughts?

I despise the version with Vanessa on it. She totally ruined it for me and it was so much better without her. No offense V fans.

I'm also a Bonnie fan and in addition to having always loved "Circle Dance", I used to always fantasise that Stevie would one day cover it. I too love her solo live versions and despite still liking the Soundstage version, I do agree that Vanessa's contribution does detract from the song's sentiment. Speaking of which, Bonnie wrote the song in respect of her long-distance relationship with her father, who was often on the road performing during her childhood. A truly beautiful and poignant piece of songwriting.

Yup - this is what I was coming on to say just now. I think it's such a beautiful song and the lyrics can be quite universal - they can make sense between lovers too. Bonnie has often been underrated as a songwriter, perhaps due to her amazing knack of finding great songs to interpret, often by unkown writers - or there were until Bonnie unearthed some ofd their work!

I have that one, too. Atlantic City, right?

LOVED that version. Loved that I was there that evening, too. It made me cry every time because of her intro, too, and it really did remind me of MY dad and how much I missed him.

I think that's the great thing about Stevie. If she truly "feels" a song, she can hit you in an emotional place you didn't even know existed.

I actually have no idea where it came from. I've had it for years. I think it may have been Universal City, CA because I was at that show but couldn't be sure.
