Bad lyrics - Peacekeeper, What's the World Coming To,

Christine come back, please!! - Don't It always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got til it's gone

Should've been a hit single - Thrown Down

Add this song, remove that one - Not Make Believe, What's the World

Much better performed live - None

Overall least favorite - What's the World Coming To (garbage)

least favorite...well, it isn't on my list of "favorites", I just downright dislike the song:

Running Through The Garden

Swap it out for "Not Make Believe", the album improves 8 points right there.

Now, let's talk album tracking order...sucks. Just like most Fleetwood Mac albums, they have ZERO sense of how to track an album. Sure, Stevie THINKS she can, but she's the worst of 'em all.

And all of you who want a different "Smile At You" on the album....you're nuts. Crazy. Tone deaf. You wouldn't know a decent track if it smacked you on the back of the head. The track on the album is the best track ON the album...by far.

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl

Christine come back, please!! - Thrown Down / Say You Will / Goodbye Baby

Should've been a hit single - Bleed To Love Her

Add this song, remove that one - Remove Miranda, add Not Make Believe

Much better performed live - Bleed To Love Her

Overall least favorite - Miranda

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl

Christine come back, please!! - Destiny Rules, Thrown Down & Say You Will

Should've been a hit single - Thrown Down, Destiny Rules, EFO, Steal Your Heart Away or Peacekeeper (minus the squawking bird)

Add this song, remove that one - Add: Down On Rodeo, Gift Of Screws & Gotta Get Away Remove: Whats the World Coming to, Come & Miranda

Much better performed live - Say Goodbye (the SYW studio version makes my skin crawl-sped up way too fast)

Overall least favorite - tie: Come & Whats The World Coming To (I never listen to these two)

AND The title of this record should have been "GIFT OF SCREWS"

Interesting idea to have Christine on Miranda. I wonder how it would have sounded.

I actually like the detachment that I think Stevie's background vocals add to the song. As a song about a person who has sunk into insanity, this one always reminded me of an old one by Helen Reddy, Angie Baby. I like the murky music and then you put in a vocal for the chorus that sounds like it could be the schizophrenic voice in someone's head and I just love it.

If Christine's harmony would have made the song warmer, then I would have resisted that. I want it to stay cool and removed kind of, but it would have been interesting to see what qualities in the tune an arrangement that included her would have enhanced.

Oh if we're adding Linds songs then those are great choices, Down On Rodeo would have sounded great with some Christine harmonies.

Bad lyrics - None

Christine come back, please!! - None (she doesn't belong on THIS album)

Should've been a hit single - SYHA, RTTG, EFO, BTLH, TD

Add this song, remove that one - It should have been a double album. Add NMB, and the five other Lindsey tracks from GOS sessions that have Mick on drums. They could keep adding from there.

Much better performed live - WTCT, BC, SG

Overall least favorite -Hard to choose. For now, I'll go: Silver Girl but I really do like it a lot.

Well rumour has it she might be on there. I'm thinking of a more overt presence, and, no, I don't think the songs or the album would improve for having her presence on them. Even the title of the album references her absence.

We do agree on this TrueFaith. This album is so terrible I don't think her presence would not have helped. Well we sort of agree..

I dug out my SYW album last night and listened to it for the first time in years. I actually ended up liking many of the songs a lot more than I remembered...maybe that's because they were kind of new again after not listening for so long?

Anyhoo

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl - I detest this song

Christine come back, please!! - Every. Single. Song. (That she's not already on.) I never realized how much I loved Christine until she was gone.

Should've been a hit single - Thrown Down, Steal Your Heart Away

Add this song, remove that one - Remove Peacekeeper and SYW, add Down on Rodeo and Not Make Believe.

Much better performed live - Come?

Overall least favorite - Silver Girl

ETA: I also think there are way too many songs on SYW. Take about 8 of them off altogether.

I tend to miss her more obviously on those songs, because I don't need my imagination to know what it would have been like, especially BTLH after The Dance.

As for the title referencing her absence, I do think I can "hear" her not being there throughout, like an echo. In fact, when I first heard Red Rover, on the album I thought he was saying "Christine you were dying . . . " discussing her misery as the Dance tour trudged along. So, when I read the liner notes and found he was saying, "could see you were dying," I was rather bummed.
