I apologize for my statements about Chris Nicks, I should have said what I said in a better manner, like "Chris Nicks isn't a very good person."

But I think this thread should just die. It isn't exactly right for any of us to talk about Stevie's father and his health; it isn't our business.

Wow...don't know how I missed all the Chris Nicks bashing. Getting on the Ledge has been kinda hard recently and I have not been here a lot.

I know what ppl have to say about him, and I was not around when some of the problems hinted at happened, but, I feel inclined to say that he is a friend of mine too. He has always been very kind and generous with me and shown me a lot of respect. Before I met him, I had heard a lot of the rumours, so I won't comment to them, I can only say what I know personally. I just feel like I need to say that, not to incite anger or any comments, just to support a friend, like I would anyone else that I care about.

You're entitled to your opinion about Chris Nicks. And I'd hate to see this become a place where our opinions were censored like another board we're all too familiar with. . . but until we know for sure, I think we could refrain from making speculations about the health of Stevie's dad.

ROCK STAR'S FATHER TO BE FIRST CIVILIAN IN SPACE

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. [AP] -- The father of rock star Stevie Nicks, Jess, has been cleared by NASA doctors to be the first civilian in space, say sources at Kennedy Space Center here.

Originally, NASA was considering sending up Nicks herself, but it was felt that her status as a celebrity might rub the public the wrong way, the sources said.

"Then we'd start getting all these complaints about why couldn't we just pick an average joe?" said a NASA official.

Rumors have been flying for years about a plan by NASA to send a civilian into space, but the agency has declined to confirm or deny any of this. Now, it appears the decision has been made.

"I lost my power in this world," said Lindsey Buckingham, Nick's band mate in Fleetwood Mac, who had also thrown his name in the hat. "And now, it looks like I've lost my power out of this world too," he said in apparent reference to not being picked for the flight.

The NASA official said Buckingham would have been perfect a couple years ago, since most people had forgotten about him. "Only a handful of hardcore fans, mostly people who post on an Internet message board called The Ledge, even knew who he was right up to a month or two ago. But now that Fleetwood Mac is touring again and Lindsey is stealing the spotlight, he can no longer be considered a regular guy."

"What can I say? Love is the sweet surprise," said Buckingham. "This reaffirms my belief in cycles."

One could argue my beloved La Nicks has been somewhere in outer space since about 1974

Why should she get to go twice

I didn't say he was his personal physician. I said they know each other from the AHI board. How is it unethical to tell a friend, if asked, that another friend is not ill?

I asked someone who works for Dr. D. to check out this rumour. If Jess Nicks were ill and under his care, he probably would not be discussing it, but my friend would have heard about it by now if the rumour were true. Things like that get around the work place fast. That's not to say a man his age wouldn't have a few aches and pains, but I thought people were implying he was gravely ill.

Anyway, I agree. This thread should just die. Long live Mr. Nicks!
