from Wikipedia:

"Fan fiction (also spelled fanfiction and commonly abbreviated to fanfic or fic when used in a singular sense) is fiction written by people who enjoy a film, novel, television show or other media work, using the characters and situations developed in it and developing new plots in which to use these characters."

I loved the star trek Voyager fiction, did not mind me a little 'slash' (J/7)either , but fanfic with 'real' people for some reason freaks me out a little..

Talking

I have never written fan fiction.. the idea has never crossed my mind, although I once flirted online with someone by making up very short stories we'd post to one another. One of mine involved my relationship with Stevie's sister Breezy Nicks, who owned/ran a casino in Pheonix (or something like that). Another involved Sandra Bullock and I roller blading in Central Park- she had a fall, was in a coma for ages... and woke up believing we were an item... pretty stupid but fun at the time. But no, I've never seriously written a story about FM or Stevie.

I did too! The series finale left me with nothing to look forward to on television. So I turned to "Season 8" online. Cheesy, I know, but as a Voyager freak, it was a must.

Oh! Yeah, I read that too!
Hmmm, let me guess.. P/K? Or C/P?? (must admit I loved some of those ) Some of the combinations were just crazy.. Dr/Tuv?!
Talking about fiction, I still have half a meter of the 'official' trek novels Planning to sell them on ebay one day though.

Didn't realise it wasn't allowed on the Ledge ... oops. Is this discussion legit then? Hope I haven't started something anarchic ...

The real person thing is a bit strange alright. Generally it doesn't bother me, but when it comes to slash I think it's crossing the line. I would write fiction about the Mac but mine is more based on them, their songs and so on, not actually featuring them as named characters in their situation.

But slash fanfics involving real people is generally something I feel ought to be steered WELL clear of.

Boy, the Stevie forum should be closed by now if that is the case.

That's a relief. Most of the fm fan fiction I've ever come across usually featured lots of sex between Lindsey and Stevie and Kristen being the devil woman!

There was a run of it on the VH1 boards but I believe the FM one was shut down thanks to Jonathan Todd

I used to be (and still am a little) addicted to X-Files fanfiction, which has been around since as early as 94-95, when internet just started. It's a very large community, and contains some of the most talented writers out there (some of who even write real novels and post using a different name) so oftentimes it's like reading a book. It's very fun and very addictive.

I can't imagine what Fleetwood Mac fanfic would be like though.

That rule was in effect when I got here, so I'll have to defer to Johnny Stew or The Penguin on that one.

uh OK.
but i can't figure out why it wouldn't be allowed - as long as it's got it's own thread. seems fairly harmless to me. and writing is good. it's much better then watching soap operas in the middle of the day.

speaking of fiction - i mean great fiction -
have any of you read The Corrections?
I know it's been out for years, but I finally read it.
What great family dysfunction fiction!

Well, I'm off to meet Stevie for a cup of coffee in Venice.
After that we're doing a little Christmas shopping and then we're meeting Mick for lunch in Hollywood.

Holy sh*t Curtis, that was good.

I think FM fan fiction would start a whole bunch of trouble. I've never even heard of fan fiction. Interesting, I think.

I am in TOTAL agreement with you there. Ditto sleazy "fan"fiction.

Yeah, what little I have seen involved a certain amount of that. No mention of Kristen though ... even though that's interesting!

Not sure what to say to that really...!

It could start trouble, though, no question. If a group were to be set up I wouldn't want it to involve any of that .... sort of thing.
