The new songs have already been rehearsed and played. As an artist one would think she would want to play her new music. She claims it is her favorite album. This is a big reason along with the price of the tickets, why I passed up 2nd row center seats for the VA show. When I saw $400 + for the total costs I could not bring myself to do it.
Before everyone starts bashing her about the setlist, please keep in mind that IYD has not yet been released in the UK and that she is in an opening slot before a very large audience. It makes perfect sense that she would want to pack the set with hits and high(er)-energy rockers. It was basically her job to rev up the crowd for Rod, and on that front she succeeded (from all accounts). I think she would have been mortified at the thought of playing brand new songs that nobody had ever heard of in this kind of setting. As she proved at the Wiltern show, she is perfectly able and willing to play her new songs. As such, I have every reason to believe that a third of her headlining American tour set will be new songs.

I hear what you’re saying Hejira. I wasn’t suggesting that she should have done her b-day set list for the Hyde Park show, but just to see it revert back to the same ole same ole after seeing what she did on her b-day just left me wondering what she’s going to do when she tours the US. For the fans sake I hope you’re right. Until then I can’t justify spending the kind of money in which Stevie and her camp are asking.

Stevie was ON FIRE. I'm currently sat during Rods set with Sahara who is AMAZING. More info to follow
That set list is great. It comes in with a puncha and out with one and delivers everything in between. The album tour is time for the new tracks, not a massive festival.

She said she'd been here 3 weeks and had "so much fun", and I believed that she had. The crowd didn't get bored at all (and I was at the side where there were some vile chavs) and the end of Edge of Seventeen ROCKED SO HARD. I was so happy that she really pulled it out of the bag for a bigger crowd. Anyway, Rod was great, they only did Young Turks together but it was fun, and I'm pretty tired the next morning!

Gotta go wait in the HOT sun for her at HMV today now - it's non-stop! She also joked it's the first time ever she'd worn sunglasses at a concert.. who would've thought it'd be London that she could say that about?
Too right. She said on Loose women at lunchtime that she found the sun in her eyes "disconcerting" and used her hand to shield the sun, so there I am thinking well yes she probably wouldnt want to wear the shades and she did! Maybe they are prescription lenses and she wanted to see all the crowd. She also said that it was a big deal to play onfront of such a huge crowd since the Mac only play to 5-15000.

Default Hyde Park Review - Crap

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/music/...rk---review.do

The guy that wrote this sounds a miserable ****! There is just no pleasing some people I guess.

You have to admire 66-year-old Rod Stewart's vigour. As well as singing in the sweltering heat in front of about 45,000 fans for two hours, he recently became a father for the eighth time.

Perhaps he anticipated the cracks about almost having his own football team, because he had a photo of his children in Celtic shirts on the giant screen during his show, including four-month-old Aiden in a romper suit of green and white hoops.

Earlier, Stewart generously introduced Stevie Nicks's set, although even with a few Fleetwood Mac classics she struggled to entertain for the full hour.

The cheering that greeted Lifted from the reformed Lighthouse Family, however, suggested that perhaps Nineties easy listening hits can be just the job on a hot day.

Initially, Stewart and his superior band mirrored his recent recording career by playing rock and soul covers, opening with Love Train. It was slick, but felt more suited to a Vegas performance and the saxophone solos became wearisome. When Stewart explored his own back catalogue, and exposed his chest to the screaming middle-aged fans down the front, there was fun to be had.

A duet with Nicks on the synth-heavy Young Turks from 1981 sounded like something from The Killers, while his superbly soulful voice ensured the cover of Tom Waits's Downtown Train was magisterial.

Stewart seemed happiest clowning about with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, who played guitar on the singalong of Maggie May. They also teamed up on Stay With Me, and there's potentially a great show featuring these rollicking old Faces tunes.

He played it safe for the finale, though, with crowd-pleasing No 1s Sailing and Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? From any other pensioner strutting around in a garish jacket, it would be an absurd question.

But Rod Stewart still drives them wild.

I couldn't figure out if it was a new outfit, or if she just put a vest over the black dress she usually wears haha.

Remember Margi Kent raving about creating new looks for Stevie and then when a fan asked about them she said it was only the 2nd show(on the Rod Tour)?
Well I guess the unveiling of the new gloves was the suprise new look.
