I'd love to see Cecelia or If You Were My Love along with Lady From The Mountains make the CD. I don't know why, but I really think she could do Lady From The Mountains justice if she released it now.
Wait a minute, something is not right. Maybe I wrong. She wrote Italian Summer, a song about Soldiers and a song about the Twilight Movies. Maybe we are just getting one more vault song. We aleady know that Secret Love and Annabelle Lee are in the can. She only brought 6 songs to the project. Wait! Plus, doesn't she have a song about New Orleans floating around.

Once again, in her interview with the VCStar, she says...

"I also dug out a lot of songs from the song vault. I pulled songs from 1976 that I don’t know why in the world did not go in the first Fleetwood Mac album. I must’ve misplaced the cassette. I had one of my backup singers, my sister-in-law Laurie, go to Phoenix and the storage vault where all of our old cassettes are. She found the cassette and I played it for Glen Ballard and Dave Stewart at the studio just a few days ago. It’s kind of been lost for 30 years."

This is a song you penned yourself?

"Yes, it was just me and a little piano. I think I wrote it in 1976, maybe even ’75. It sounds like I’m 5. Glen Ballard said, “So where has this little gem been hiding?”

I was able to pull four or five songs out of my song vault, and then a song I wrote about the “Twilight” movies and a song about Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans. So I came into this record with only two new songs. I had no idea I was going to write songs with Dave."

She said she pulled 4 or 5 songs from the vault, but we all know her memory is a bit muddy, especially when it comes to live, on the spot interviews. If 5 songs were written without Dave (since there are 14 tracks and she said 9 were co-written with Dave), and discounting Twilight & New Orleans songs, that leaves at least three songs she pulled from the vault. Of course we now know about "Annabelle Lee" and "Secret Love", which means there could be one more vault song that she rerecorded. Here's hoping!

Also, I do believe "Italian Summer" was a cowritten song with Dave...and now that I'm thinking about it, could "Soldier's Angel" be the third vault song, since it was written about 5 years ago?

Still doesn't make sense. What about the Mike Campbell tracks? Did Dave cowrite those too.
My understanding she wrote lyrics to his music.

She mentioned @4 vault songs: all from the 70's (of which 2 we know: Secret Love & Annabel Lee-though demoed for TISL - was written in the 70's) in her interviews last August.I'm expecting a total of 3 vault songs. Coincidently Stevie also pulled out 3 older demos for TISL and 3 for SYW.

And though the rumor is Stevie recorded 14 songs (which may or may not include Cheaper Than Free). The other persistent rumor is that they are going to cut about 1-2 songs, which allows for a bonus track or two. I myself am anticipating a 12 track CD, which is fine, as long as they end up releasing the bonus tracks through other vehicles, and we end up with an album that is solid and consistent. Of course we'll always debate that the bonus track(s) should have made the final cut in lieu of another track ad-naseam as in "My Heart" and "Not Make Believe".

I'm guessing the "lost" cassette of songs may have been the so-called Fritz Demos...."Anybody Out There:", "See The World Go By", "I Need You", "Amber"....

.....those seem like more of something Stevie could have lost in storage, rather than "Secret Love".....SL seems like something she might have had out for awhile.

I could be totally wrong, per usual.

I liked the song My Heart, but not the way she sang it. It was like listening to someone scrape their fingers on a chalk board. Reminded me of her vocal on Too Far From Fexas. Not Make Believe was a dud. Bad song all the way around.

I'm hoping for All The Beautifull Worlds and If You Were My Love, but it's probably going to something nobody was expecting.

Kinda like Secret Love and Annabel Lee-didn't really see these 2 coming in a million years. It's probably a good move to release the lesser talked about demos then the beloved demos/outtakes, cause we already have such affection for those and mostly end up disappointed. I am in love with what they have done to "Secret Love". I'm trying not to play it very much, cause the sing songy melody has always been infectious, and now I just cant get it outta my head. I think this bodes well for "Annabel Lee". I would be happy for "Forest Of The Black Roses" & "Lady From The Mountain"at this point - I can see her pulling these off in her current voice. Ulimately I'm most anxious about the new songs we've never heard. Especially the co-written ones with Dave Stewart & Mike Campbell, I think these will produce the most interesting and innovative of all the compositions on the album. I'm hopeful that Dave esp. will stretch Stevie beyond her comfort zone, using more eleborate chord structures that lift up Stevies songs in a whole new thrilling direction. So Excited!

Guys, guys, guys.... this is STEVIE NICKS we are talking about. Stevie said her and Dave did nine songs, but Dave said they did seven songs. She also said two were with Mike Campbell. So I think Dave's seven and Mike's two make the nine and Stevie's solo 5. Which are: Twilight song, New Orleans song, Anabell Lee, Secret Love, and one other song. I also assumed this was all talked about before Cheaper Than Free was decided to be put on the album. Yet we are still hearing there will be 14 songs. So which song got cut? And how do we know the Twilight song wasn't something she wrote to a Mike Campbell track? And how did Stevie go into this with only 2 new songs yet have 4 or 5 (she lost count?) old demos yet only have 5 suffering Stevie songs? That means either some songs were cut. Perhaps the Twilight song or the New Orleans song won't make it. Either way, until we get a track list, we are just not going to know. We can't go on Stevie's words alone. Case in point:

"I pulled songs from 1976 that I don’t know why in the world did not go in the first Fleetwood Mac album."

Le sigh...

Also, she goes from finding a tape of lost songs, to "this is a SONG you penned yourself?". Perhaps all the songs on the tape were just her and the piano: Secret Love, China Doll, Christian... and she was referring to the tape, not a specific song.

Ok, after you posted this, I tried to find the Mabel demo on youtube. It's not posted. I've never even heard of that song before.

Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?17oyo08oj428ogd

It's Stevie rambling at her best...or worst....whichever way you want to look at it.
