My thoughts exactly with hipsters. They can all go screw themselves and be ironic in their own litte world.

Is Billy Elliot,by any chance, playing on London's West End? That could be a possibility for you to see it.

It may be, but I live about 5 hours away from London and couldn't afford a West End show if I worked all week for 6 months

Does West End have a thing similar to the Broadway TKTS counter? (unsold tickets for shows for that day are sold half-price) Maybe you could go take a trip to London, do stuff, and thing you could do is maybe that (and if you can't get into Billy Elliot, try out Phantom of the Opera. It's probably the best show I've seen and you'd love it)

I saw Phantom at the Pantages in Toronto. From the front row. When Paul Stanley was the Phantom. It was epic.

Phantom is an incredible show, it has everything! I'm heading to London in a few weeks to see it for the second time! Wish I had time to see Love Never Dies too. I loved the album

I saw it last April on Boradway. I had known the music long before I had seen the show, and it was absolutely incredible.

Default Parenting with Zombie: The 3 AM Vomit Edition

Hey, kids! Here's a fun thing to do when your not-quite-ten-year-old wakes up yakking all over god and creation at 3 AM!

Step 1
Allow child to lay on couch near A/C, to help him feel better, because it's hot as balls and you read in an Important Medical Journal that cooling down when it's hot as balls and you are yakking all over god and creation is Very Helpful.

Step 2
Allow child to stare at TV, because you're nice like that.

Step 3
Allow child to turn up TV a little more when he asks because he can't quite hear it.

Step 4
Inform child the THIRD time he asks to turn the TV up a little more because he can't quite hear it that he has reached his quota of loudness, because it is 3 AM, and you read in another Important Medical Journal that even when you're yakking all over god and creation, 3 AM is still sleepy time and not party time.

Step 5
Seconds after child nods his understanding of this important truth, remember that the key to good parenting is to make sure all rules are clear and concise, so there is no wiggle room or confusion, and amend Step 4's statement with, "Unless you're me. Then 3 AM can be party time. Because I'm the mom. And I do what I want."

Step 6
Proceed to really hammer the point home by executing excellent impression of Brad Pitt dancing in Burn After Reading (see Appendix), which illustrates how you will damn well party if you want to at 3 AM, even if child can't.

Step 7
Set reminder on BlackBerry to find second job to save up for therapy child will no doubt require in just a few short years.

Step 8
?????

Step 9
PROFIT!

Appendix

That was hilarious, as usual.

I love that gif of Brad Pitt dancing. Can I use it as my siggy pic? Pretty please?

You can get discount tickets all over the place in Leicester Square. There's one "official" one but I got mine somewhere else and they were perfectly legit. Billy Elliot still sells well in the West End, so it may not be discounted, but I think they still have a rush, meaning you get there by a certain time and you can get the front row for super cheap. That's what I did when I was there.

I think I am one of the only people on the planet who doesn't get the hype of Phantom. It's fine but ehh.

Maybe if I everget to London I'll try West End show.

I saw you're from New York. What borough are you from? I live way out in Long Island's edge of civilization, perhaps better known as Eastern Suffolk, but I do have to go to Queens a lot to see my annoying relatives (OK, it's just my grandma, aunt, uncle, cousin, and my uncle's border collie, but they're prett much the only good thing in Kew Gardens).

I live in Astoria. I don't venture too much further into Queens than the mall in Elmhurst, haha.

I think I know some people from school (that's Stony Brook, folks) that are from there, or was it Flushing? Funny thing is that I go to Queens all the time to see my family, and barely know it.

And is the mall in Elhurst Queens Center or is that in Rego Park?
