Hi Dodfather, yes I do have Real, along with everything else Belinda has released (solo and with the Go-Go's). Real has some fabulous tracks on it (Big Scary Animal, Tell Me, Here Comes My Baby) but I do prefer the Runaway Horses, Live Your Life and A Woman And A Man albums. Her version of Bonnie & Clyde from the Voila album is brilliant - check it out if you haven't heard it. I always thought Stevie should have recorded Valentine but that could be due to Belinda's obvious impersonation of her on the track. Did you realise she thanks Stevie in the credits of at least one of her albums? I think it's Heaven On Earth.

I'm listening to Real right now. I have Runaway Horses (vinyl), The Very Best of Belinda (a European hits collection that spans Heaven On Earth - Live Your Life Be Free and was a HUGE hit), A Woman And A Man and Real.

I had her early studio albums on cassette but went through that stupid 15-16yo phase where I didn;t think it was "cool" to listen to her and so got rid of them. Since then it's just been the Best Of and the stuff that came after that. I'm replacing the early stuff on vinyl, and I'll get the CD/DVD release of Heaven On Earth. I don't have Volia but know it well because of good old Spotify.

I really need to get Belinda (1985) but it's hard to track down for a reasonable price, even on ebay (not looked for little while though). I love I Feel The Magic and Mad About You, and the rest of that album is great too! I also just have a good Go-Gos hits collction because, horror!), my copy of Talk Show broke a couple of months ago!

Yep, Belinda loves Stevie! I bet she loved recording Lindsey's song for Belinda...

I am soooo with you on this!!! I am eternally jealous to have not been a teenager in the 80s/90s. All of my favorite singers are pre-2000.

Haha well I actually do tell all my friends that I wish I could just skip ahead in time. I'm dreading the near future for some reason. But being able to see plenty of Stevie, Mac, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, The Smiths, and a ton of other concerts would make up for it anyway. Right now, the majority of my favorite singers aren't active at all, or very little, or just plain suck lately.

I don't understand all the dislike for Silver Girl. Whilst it may not be Stevie's greatest moment, it's far from her worst and actually ranks well amongst the other tracks on the Say You Will album. I think her vocal on Silver Girl is definitely one of her best in the last twenty years - it almost harks back to the Bella Donna days in terms of quality.

I guess I'm just put off by the Silver Girl lyrics, which start off badly and then descend from there. Then, the music is not arresting. It doesn't capture me on it's own. I guess I never got far enough past those two things to even appreciate her vocals, as I should.

She was a silver girl, lost in a high tech world
She was a golden girl, immersed in a hard core world

To come home to that, directly after I've spent a long night running through the garden . . . it just seems too much to bear.

I fall in and out of love with Silver Girl myself. I am a bit odd, and have a different song for anyone of consequence in my life. A song that represents their essence to me, always makes me smile and think of them when I hear it, reminds of me of them lyrically, etc. Silver Girl is my song for my best friend, Scott. So it'll always hold a special place for me... even if my love for it's production style comes and goes. At the moment, I'm enjoyed Silver Girl... but she'll likely 'fall from grace' again in the future .
