Want to talk emotional life? Find your mother screwing another man - not your father. While they're still married.

Give birth to a 2 lb. baby. Go home without her. Visit her in the hospital everyday for 2 months.

Survive the suicide of your husband at 25 years old. Then explain it to the 4 year old.

IDK, maybe I'm a hardened bitch, but seriously? Emotional life? Then you go on and on about some girl? I know I don't have it that bad. I'm not even complaining. But there is my "emotional life" summed up in 50 words or less. I guess my point is that you're a grown man. Suck it up and move on, or get some professional therapy.

Not a hardened bitch. A realist. Also, well said.

I read this whole thread. Because I'm a masochist. And I figured something interesting was going on due to all the replies. D'oh.

Ethan, everyone goes through hard times. Some, like Maria, go through harder times than others. And maybe some, like Maria, have more tools in the mental toolbox to handle hard times than others do - whether they have tools already due to natural tendencies or they figured out how to build new tools to suit - but you can either get some new tools so you can work with what you've got or you can spend the rest of your life unhappy and Kermit-flailing to strangers on the Ledge.

If you need professional therapy, I can provide invaluable life advice for a mere 5 cents. Like Lucy.

Actually, I don't even need the nickel. This one's a freebie, and I reproduce it in its entirety as it was told to me many moons ago when bad stuff was happening with me (okay, actually, I was in labor with my son, and a friend was being sarcastic, but nevermind). I use it daily, and it's proven to be completely applicable in nearly all life situations. Here you go:

Walk it off, flower.

It's a small phrase, but I find it instantly puts things in perspective.

Good luck with all that, dude.

All the same, baby. All the same.

Thanks guys.

Not trying to gang up, be a bitch (that's rarely seen) or seem insensitive. However, I have a problem with people who tend to be "needy" for attention.
