I thought that was a very telling comment from her. It would not surprise me if she believes that once the children are older, she and he will live out their lives together as they were 'meant to do' but couldn't manage in the usual way.
Equally, who's to say they won't????/

Also, I think the doc was a great prmotion for the band. I'vehad several people talk to me about it who hadn't followed the band since Tango in the night. So, good or lightweight, it did the group a lot of good to be remembered for an audience that doesn't follow fan forums but likes them.

Thats exactly what I thought the second she said it. I don't know exactly what she meant by it though...but it is obvious that she's got something particular in mind.

I do have a question though. The narration says that Christine was the "female songwriter reluctant to front the band." Are there any quotes from her or anyone else in FM that support this? I would be interested to know if that were true and, if so, why she was reluctant to be the face of FM as it were at that time?

Stevie's said it numerous times that Christine never wanted to be the one up front... I think even Christine has said it in interviews that she considered herself more a part of the rhythm section then the upfront person...

I guess I always just took that to mean that she wouldn't have wanted to front Fleetwood Mac as it became after Stevie and Lindsey joined and they all became super famous. In my mind, when imagining what it must have been like before Stevie & Lindsey, I always thought a bluesy FM fronted by Christine...maybe not literally out front as Stevie and Lindsey did...but just there to the side with her keyboard would have made a pretty great show. It would have been a perfect setup for smaller venues with smaller stages. I definitely would have paid to see it!

That would have been nice, really cool. But I remember Christine saying in print interviews during her 1984 solo tour that she preferred not to be the star of the show or to sing lead on every song.

She seems to prefer being part of a group with multiple leads.

Well, I can't blame her for that. I wouldn't have wanted to be the one to sing lead on every song either...or at all for that matter

I personally think that the kids have helped her keep her emotional distance. Believe what you want about their relationship during The Dance tour, but I still think there are some loose strings hanging around between those two and they (or, at least, Stevie) doesn't want to tie them just yet.

She sure loves bringing up his kids. I don't think there's as much emotional distance there as she would lead us to believe.

I think I see what Dani is saying. Stevie's affection for his kids could help her keep her emotional distance from him. I think its a really good interpretation of the situation that I hadn't given much thought to in terms of the comment she made...makes a lot of sense.

And as far as The Dance goes...I think there was a lot more than loose strings going on

Agreed, completely. But when you think of her entire "when he had his first child, I knew we were done" comment, it just totally makes sense. I think she's trying to be a respectable, "ladylike" woman and save his kids from the emotional drama in which would be her open pursuit of their married father.

This band truly is one huge soap opera.

I think I've said this before - or something similar, at least - on the board, but the reason I feel that Stevie says Joe Walsh is the love of her life is for the same reason Dani put forward: emotional distance. Nobody wants to look as though they're still enamoured with their ex-boyfriend while he's in another relationship. It makes them feel vulnerable and desparate. However, I think Stevie thinks that if she keeps saying she loved Joe Walsh the most that Lindsey might get jealous, despite being married with children. After all, one of the main goals for both them still is to score points of one another.

However, I think that Lindsey, like the rest of us, thinks Stevie doth protest too much.
