Default negativity abounds

to my fellow ledgies...ive been here 5 years and this is the worst bashing i've ever seen on a member of the band...what would happen if stevie left the band scoop? i'll tell u...no one would go to their friggen concerts...she has a huge following and she sells out 6000 arena's on her solo gigs versus the 600 lindsey sells out....they need each other...if u cant stand stevie dont friggen go to the concerts...without her they are nothing imho...her contribution to the mac are as follows:
landslide
rhiannon
gold dust woman
sara
silver springs
storms
sisters of the moon*
angel
7 wonders
the chain
dreams (the only song that made it to #1)

u need to understand that stevie is the most important songwriter in the band...its not about how she moves around the stage or her voice is lower now...we are giving her the love she deserves for all the contributions she has made to the mac...we're not talking about her solo career here at all...u are entitled to ur own opinions but so are we...personally the band can get buy without lindsey...they can't without ms nicks...nuff said...pat

i'm not losing any sleep over stevie either. but what she's producing these days isn't worth the money to me anymore. so i don't see her live or buy anything new she puts out. that is how her presence has been reduced in my life.

Seriously why would someone come into a FM/SN forum and put a big picture on their signature unless they are trying to troll the forum? It is beyond annoying.
you could ...

-turn off sigs in your userCP
-put me on ignore
-block images from my photobucket URL, if you're using firefox.

and really, calling trisha "obscure" is the best you've got?

i've been around here for 3+ years. go dig up my old posts and see what a ridiculous fan i was.

My goodness, looking back on this, I see that we're all being rather foolish. I'm sorry for what I said to others, I willl try much harder to respect your opinions. And it does not matter how many posts you've got, it matters if you'be proven yourself a fan. I don't take anything back that I said to Scoop though, I totally agree with mylittledmon, this thread was just started to kick up dust. Perhaps we should forget about this all? I would really hate to see this place go down hill because of a thread started by a troll.

Think what you want, I really don't care. This is my personal opinion based on my experiences in the past and based on what I experienced last Sunday. I think having been a fan for over a quarter century, seeing over 50 shows, buying every CD, and attending every tour since the 80s is enough to "prove" myself as a fan. But I suppose being a "true fan" means that you have to adore every little thing one of your favorite artists does, no matter how unprofessional it is or how much you disagree with it. I guess I'm just not a true fan then.

Would it have killed her to bring one or two of the hundreds of demos she has in the vaults and feature them on Crystal Visions? If she simply has nothing to write about anymore (and I have little doubt that she does), then why not grab a producer that she's comfortable with, one that she's worked with before (say, oh John Shanks), get into the studio and lay down some vocals. Would it have been just too much work for the mad songwriter? It would have made the package that much nicer for the fans and would have kept her relevant and fresh. She could have brought those two songs on tour with her and still do all the songs that are within her comfort zone. It would have been a new artistic expression, it would have differentiated the tour from the GD tour, and would have been a reason to actually hit the road in the first place. But no, she couldn't even do that. Whatever happened to the song she wrote about Hurricane Katrina? It took her one year to write and record "Illume (9/11)", so why after 4 years, can she not put her thoughts regarding Katrina into a new track? It's not as if "Illume" was some kind of masterpiece or anything that took her years of tweaking to get just right. In 2002, she was able to put together 10 tracks for SYW, but yet has not been able to put out a single track for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009. There's no excuse for that, in my opinion. It's fine if she doesn't want to record anymore, but then she shouldn't tour either. But if she really wants to tour without promoting new material, then at least mix it up, play some rare stuff, change the arrangement a bit, do something different. Four live covers in 5 years is just not going to cut it.

I really believe this Unleashed Tour is Fleetwood Mac's version of Stevie's Crystal Visions Tour. It has that same "been there, done that" feel to it. I'm sure it was her idea, just as I'm sure Lindsey would have much preferred to tour off a new album. But he probably felt that his hands were tied and I think he probably really does believe that this tour can hopefully lead to them making a new studio album together. I have little doubt that she is the one who is holding the band back from putting out new material, since it is clear that Lindsey can pump out the new stuff as quickly as he wants to as long as he has a forum to do so.

I think there is a pesky fly buzzing around my head again!!

I am sure this whole tour was Stevie's idea. She is such a lazy ass.

If you ask me, she knows this will make them money and she knows that the guys in this band make lots of it when they tour together. She knows they have families and that this will be of major benefit to them and wants to do whatever she needs to do because she cares about them as friends.

I also think that when she puts out new material, it will be of quality and marketable. She learned A LOT from Say You Will.

That's a really nice thing to say about someone who you're supposed to be a fan of.

This is not a complaint or anything, just a thought...it would have been pretty cool if, maybe, Lindsey and Stevie had decided to do some songs from their time before the band, since I have read recent quotes from Stevie referring to that time and how much this tour reminds her of Lindsey and her at that point in their lives. I mean, I think the Buckingham-Nicks album is a beautiful and they really could have brought some of those tunes out and possibly pumped up a lot of die-hards as well as introduced something pretty much unexpected to casual or newer fans.

But whatever...it seems they kind of stick to a predictable formula. I'm not complaining, though. Truthfully, I adore Fleetwood Mac. I think they're an incredible band and always will. I love all the members collectively and individually. But Lindsey has my heart and I am a devoted Lindsey fan all the way (duh). So seeing them live, for me, is about 70% for Lindsey and 30% for the band. But I'm excited anyway to see FM together at this point.

Well, Liindsey did say that whenever they put the BN CD out (which is never going to happen) that they would have to do something to promote it and he teased with the possibility of a BN tour. So . . . it may never happen, but it has been considered.

This is a picture of what I meant when I compared Stevie to the "hear no evil" monkey. Of course, it looks like she was clutching at her head in a burst of emotion, but she was really checking her sound.

Hey guys- I have not posted in a long time. NOT A TROLL.

I checked out the Youtube videos that have been posted. I do think Stevie sounded quite rough. Kinda how she has tended to sound after 2-3 shows in a row without any rest. So I am surprised she sounds so rough so early.

But that being said- what really bothered me is how SAD she looked in all the pictures I have seen- beginning of show, during the show, end of show- I don't know what is up but I hope she is ok.

I actually think Stevie could use some subtle vocal enhancements when she sings live. My fave Tori Amos certainly uses TONS of reverb, echos, ect to enhance her voice.

I thought the Live In Chicago performance was AMAZING (I don't get people who are dogging that show- WHAT???) I thought it was Stevie at her absolute best. During Stand Back, Stevie sounded absolutely PRISTINE and I really felt they had some vocal enhancement going on- kinda like an autotune thing. I cannot wait for that CD for the best live version of Stand Back since 1983-in my opinion- and the awesome cover of Crash.

Bottom line- Stevie needs some good old fashioned live singing augmentation- all artists use it. She won't be lipsynching- it will just add some effect.

And Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most underrated guitarists in the history of rock and roll. Anyone who dogs him is insane.

So you're complaining about Stevie bashing, but it's acceptable to you to dismiss the other members as "nothing" w/o her?

Another thing I notice is that those who deplore the negative opinions from other ledgies so often voice negative opinions about those ledgies in the process.

Isn't it better to harshly criticize Fleetwood Mac rather than ledgies?

Not to everybody. You might believe so, but others don't "need to understand" any such thing if that's not how they see Stevie.

Going by the videos I've watched, Stevie does seem sort of bored, but I haven't seen any playful videos, so I really can't judge that.

That said, her Landslide from the first show...choked me up. Go Insane made me smile like the Cheshire cat too, and that's probably due to memories of the GOS tour.
