Summer's over now. After the last time:
Bruce Springsteen&the E street band Excellent gig,E street band was tight as ever,Bruce in excellent mood, song selection full of surprises. Iron maiden Great, great gig,Unbelievable feeling, band was in great force, audience going mad. Kris Kristofferson Very enjoyable, though hard to imagine more minimalistic performance. Large part of the set consisted of the songs included on the Essential compilation, the only record of his,i have,so that was a plus. Neil Young and his Electric band First time i saw him live and was pretty much as i expected. Used a lot of that wall of fuzz noise.Much preferred acoustic or acoustic mode with the band. Again,i don't have most of his records from last twenty years, luckily, large part of his set was from earlier years. Richard Thompson The opposite end of an acoustic gig to Kristofferson's. Full of fire and witty remarks. He knew how to hold an audience. If only i could see Linda live now. Stray cats Excellent band, excellent gig Pretty much a re-run from four years back, with as great gig as this, no complaints from me.Waiting for the next farewell tour. R.E.M. Never been a big fan of theirs,so this was also a very positive surprise. What i didn't expect was how upbeat they were.Shiny happy people indeed. Great setlist, varied, rarities and hits. This has been a fantastic year for gigs(as was last year) the only gigs for the end of the year are Supergrass(if there are tickets anymore)and Whitesnake. |

This has been a great year for me for concerts, too.
Flew to Anaheim (from PA) to see Stevie in February. Stevie again in April in Reading. Morris Day & The Time in June in Toronto Leonard Cohen in June in Toronto (It was like seeing Jesus.) Randy Newman this weekend in Toronto. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds in October in Toronto (I will just die.) GWAR in October in Columbus Hopefully Lindsey in October in Reading, also, if I can swing it.

Heart solo at the Wild Horse Saloon- Excellent. One of the better concerts I've seen in awhile.

So far this year it’s been:
Bruce & The E St Band – Live Emirates Stadium London. Great gig but terrible sound. I saw them end of last year at the 02 and they were superb. The Black Crowes – Live in Brixton. Superb. Gig of the year. Stevie Wonder – terrible gig at the 02 last week. Too much waffle and drum and percussion solo’s. Where were the classic hits? I guess he saved them till the end but I didn’t stick around that long. Left before the end. He stopped the music to talk about the death of his mother (I paid £70 to be entertained, not depressed.) He’s still got the talent but I’m afraid his setlist and endless talk about the US presidency spoilt the night for me. Next up for me is Status Quo in October. Should be a good night. Great live band. Sadly not quite as good a year as last for gigs. Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin at the 02 in December were the real highlights. Cant really beat those two. And now I’m a little gigged out. Not many acts left that I want to see before they stop playing. Only really Fleetwood Mac and Bob Dylan. |

At this stage in my life, I am all 'concerted' out (Been seeing concerts since 1985 - A long time)
I used to enjoy concerts, but it now seems that the thrill is gone from the game (Last few shows I saw it has felt as if I was filling in the numbers with color so to speak) so for the unseeable future I will be sitting out the shows. |

After Stone Temple Pilots, I think I've not seen anything. Some summer wants slipped right thru my fingers. No Lindsey this go round, but my Northern adventure made up for it. DID try to atleast see him in Seattle, but no such luck.
Summer may be over, but I am still hopeful for end of year shows including Madonna, Tina Turner and Neil Diamond. How is it all these old farts tour in the winter...isn't it bad for their bad hips??? kidding |
