Right. And there IS time to stop and think before hitting "submit reply" that whole "it just came out" defense doesn't really fly online.

I think it'd be more admirable if *someone* would just admit he or she was trying to rile folks.

That has NEVER EVER been my intent on these boards. Those of you that know me know that. Its like when someone asks you "Whats wrong?" "Are you mad?" "Are you ok?" And everything is fine, and it gets irritating. So when people do that to you, that gets annoying right? Same situation here. A certain few say I'm trying to rile, and its simply not true. It seems as though I make simple comments, and they get blown up past what I MEANT them for. I think certain people like the argument that somehow gets created, then blame it on me. I've seen it done in the past with other people on here. They get run off. Not the case with me. I just end up defending myself, playing the martyr, explaining myself...and in the end I suppose it all boils down to the fact that I dont HAVE to explain myself. But I do it because it seems the courteous thing to do. I could just say "BLOW ME" and put an end to it. Would that be the preferred response? We all have discussions and we move on. Maybe thats "riling" in someone else's book, but not mine. I've learned everyone here, including myself, are hard headed as they come. So can we move on to my next "hidden agenda (HA!)"...ridding the world of Chris Crocker!

hey brandon - i missed this post you made and i want to say that my "blow me" sig is certainly not any comment towards you ok? I don't know if you felt that way but it was not my intent at all.

There's nothing wrong with that, but that doesn't mean the people trying to make that small difference are bad because they didn't pick the issue that is more tragic

I think issues like this are very personal. I don't judge anyone because they do or do not donate to charities and do volunteer work. I personally do (and btw...I donate to PETA AND the United States Humane Society, AND I volunteer at the local humane society. But I don't think that makes me more or less of an animal lover. It's just a personal choice, and something that makes my life complete) because there are so many more other things I wish I could do, so I just do what little I can. But to insinuate it's less important and we all should be fighting for something grander and better is offensive. I'm sorry that you didn't mean it that way, but that's the way it came across

Another thing about animal rights: I don't love babies, but they are just as innocent as animals. I would NEVER in a million years want someone to abuse children or hurt them in any way. But the fact of the matter is, they have a voice. They have more people fighting for them. Animals do too, to an extent, but kinda like you hinted-there are other more important things out there. (more important to other people, not myself). So the overall thought of society is that it's not a priority, but to me it is. Someone has to do it, and that's what I think of everytime I go to the shelter and help, or every time I pick up a stray on the side of the road. someone has to do it. It's just that not many do so it's kinda like fighting for the underdog. no pun intended.

I have a friend who works at the Animal Rescue Organisation. I have a 40 hour a week job, so I don't have that much time to put into it, but I manage to squeeze in a few hours every month to volunteer. I have her number on speed dial in case I come across something. For a year now we've been talking about opening up our own animal shelter, but getting funding is really hard. One day we'll manage to do that though.

But I still don't like dogs.

yeah I'm sorry people took it that way. Again, its really me sort of thinking out loud. Maybe more me talking to myself even. I tend to have to backpedal and then explain myself and it turns into this big thing. Meh.
