Anna Nicole Smith found in hotel room unresponsive

Oy. I suspected she was on loads of methadone...the nodding in interviews and all. What interests me is the baby. She was released from the hospital three days after her birth....so I doubt she was born addicted. Anna could not have just quit methadone when she got pregnant, it does not work that way. Maybe the baby was born addicted and was wheened off of it at home with a private nurse and pediatrician? This whole story is one F'd up mess. I would not be shocked if Howard gets charged in all this. The scripts are all in his name!

Well, she had pneumonia - so, that could be what the IV drugs were for. As for the Methadone, I do not know what to say about that. She was addicted to pain pills in the 90's and went to rehab to get off of them.

Also, it is possible she was a heroine addict when she was a stripper in Texas. She was VERY thin then

But, even if she had been on Methadone, there is no evidence yet to suggest that that is what killed her via an overdose. Maybe she had a bad reaction like her son did.

The autopsy is going to be very revealing and sad.

According to reports last night, Howard's "spirits are lifted" now that he has been able to hold Dannilynn. It was also reported that he made the following statement with regard to AN's mother: "over my dead body" will that woman have anything to do with her.

IMO, based on everything that has happened, the allegations, etc, Dannilynn should be in protective custody until this is all sorted/resolved.

It would be difficult to do as Bahamian law governs this case.

While this child was not really abducted because paternity has yet to be established in The Bahamas and Stern is presumed to be the father, it is good for general info.

Interestingly, the photographer who alleges paternity should have filed the suit in The Bahamas because that is the proper jurisdiction. If he had done so, the DNA testing would be over and done with. That he did not IMO weighs against his credibility.

Stern isn't presumed to be the father, his name is on the birth certificate. Also, there was that commitment ceremony. I'm half expecting a surprise marriage license to show up. Then it's game over with Bahamian law, ism't it?

Well, it is a little tricky. She was declared a resident, but ownership of the house was required and she may not own it. Moreover, the presumption can be rebutted by DNA testing. As for the wedding, the ceremony alone likely was not enough to call them married.

Photos posted Sunday on the Web suggest that Anna Nicole Smith's diet during her final days included methadone and Slim-Fast nutrition drinks.

The shocking pictures — also showing a box of TrimSpa abandoned next to the small fridge — are now the center of still another legal battle involving the former Playmate and her estate.

The Bahamian lawyer for Smith's live-in lover, Howard K. Stern, yesterday went to the police accusing the couple's landlord of breaking into their home and staging the photos, which appeared on TMZ.com.

"They staged photos, such as putting TrimSpa and Slim-Fast in a refrigerator to slight her," the furious attorney, Wayne Munroe, told The Post. "It was like grave robbery."

Smith had been a spokeswoman for TrimSpa, not Slim-Fast.

"I thought it was cute to put the Slim-Fast in the refrigerator," said Munroe. "Sick is how I described the placing of the methadone."

Munroe claimed landlord G. Ben Thompson — who was once Smith's lover — organized the break-in and staged the photos. Stern has filed for a restraining order against Thompson and his associates.

He said Thompson's cronies also stole a computer, paintings and drawings of the buxom vixen from the island home where Smith and Stern had been living for six months.

But Thompson's lawyer, Godfrey "Pro" Pinder, scoffed, "No person who has any association with G. Ben Thompson has taken anything from the house."

As for Thompson staging any photos, Pinder added, "It's not true. It's a lie."

Munroe said Stern returned to the home on Saturday after sailing from Florida on the yacht that he and Smith had recently purchased. He said Smith had christened the boat The Cracker.

Stern was on the 40-foot boat, speaking by phone to the broker who sold it to him, when he got a frantic call telling him that Anna Nicole had collapsed in their Hollywood, Fla., hotel.

"He suddenly said, 'I gotta go!' " said the broker, Mark Dekema.

V&G Yachtworks owner Vince Pyle told The Post that one of his workers was at sea with Stern, giving him a trial run on the used, 10-year-old boat "when Howard got the phone call.

"The minute he got the phone call, Howard said, 'Oh, my God, I need to get back to the dock right away! My wife is in trouble!" Pyle said, quoting his worker.

"He told [the worker] who his wife is. They went back to the docks, and [the employee] helped him off quickly."

But it was a 20-minute ride from the Fort Lauderdale marina to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, and Stern may not have made it in time.

Smith was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, about 30 minutes after her nurse called 911.

Dekema, who works for Reel Deal yachts in Miami Beach, said Smith had visited the boat earlier in the week.

"Anna Nicole wanted a boat where she could lay down outside on the boat deck," Dekema said. "We made some interior changes. She liked the color pink and she wanted big-screen TVs."

The couple had flown to Florida on Monday to pick up the boat and were scheduled to sail to the Bahamas on Friday.

Instead, Stern sailed the boat home with only Capt. Eric Dickson by his side.

After the boat docked, Stern reclaimed Smith's baby daughter - now the subject of a bitter paternity battle - from a friend who was watching her.

Munroe said Stern and the baby were still inside the home yesterday.

Munroe also lashed out at Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, who was seen driving around the home, accompanied by a crew for "Good Morning America."

Arthur has joined forces with Smith's ex-boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead — who is battling Stern in a California paternity suit — over custody of the baby girl.

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) -- A newspaper published two photographs on its front page Monday showing Anna Nicole Smith lying in bed fully clothed in an embrace with the Bahamian immigration minister, who approved her application for permanent residency.

Immigration Minister Shane Gibson has come under criticism from the political opposition for giving the former Playboy Playmate special treatment in granting Smith -- who died Thursday in Florida -- residency in the Bahamas last year.

The residency application was based on Smith's purported ownership of a waterfront mansion. But G. Ben Thompson, a South Carolina developer once dated Smith, has said he had not given Smith the house as a gift as her lawyers have asserted. Thompson is attempting to reclaim the house.

A representative of Anna Nicole Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, scrambled on Monday to control dissemination of items he said were stolen from the mansion over the weekend before he returned from Florida, including images from a computer taken from the house.

Ron Rale, Stern's spokesman, said in a statement Monday that anyone who disseminates any of the items without his prior written consent "will be held liable to the fullest extent of the law." Rale said police have recovered all the missing property.

Two photographs published on the front page of The Tribune of Nassau show Smith and Gibson looking into each other's eyes with their faces only a couple inches apart while lying on a bed decorated with pink flowers and a white ribbon. The newspaper said the photographs were taken in Smith's bedroom and that it obtained the pictures Sunday from an unidentified source.

Opposition leader Hubert Ingraham said he was looking into the matter.

"I'm making some inquiries," Ingraham told The Associated Press.

All of Smith's personal items, including the birth certificate of her 5-month-old daughter, whose paternity is being disputed by three men, had been taken from the house, Rale said.

Stern over the weekend reclaimed the Bahamas mansion along with 5-month-old Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern. They had lived in the gated waterfront estate, known as "Horizons," before Smith died last week.

Stern said he is trying to keep Smith's mother, Vergie Arthur, who traveled from the United States and went to the gates of the mansion on Sunday, from seeing Dannielynn.

"She just despised that woman," Stern said, in a video segment broadcast Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"As long as I have one breath left in my body that woman will not see Dannielynn," Stern said.

Arthur told "Good Morning America" that she fears for Dannielynn's safety, pointing out that Stern has been present when Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, died under mysterious circumstances in a Bahamas hospital room while visiting his mother days after Dannielynn was born.

A coroner hired by Smith's family said Daniel died in September from a lethal combination of drugs, including methadone. An inquest into his death is scheduled to begin March 27.

"I do have a problem with her being with Howard Stern," Arthur said. "I had a daughter and I had a grandson. He was there when both of them died. Now I only have a granddaughter left, and now he has her, and I'm afraid for her."

Stern is listed on a birth certificate as Dannielynn's father. But two other men have challenged the claim.

A former boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, has filed a lawsuit claiming he is the father. On Friday, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, the husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, announced that he had a decade-long affair with Smith and he may be the girl's father.

The New York Daily News has reported that a manuscript it obtained says Smith froze the sperm of her late 90-year-old husband, Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II, before his death and may have used it to become pregnant.

Since Marshall's death in 1995, Smith had been waging a court battle over his estate. A federal court in California awarded Smith $474 million, but that was later overturned. But in May, the U.S. Supreme Court revived her case, ruling that she deserved another day in court.

Experts say the decision of who receives custody could determine the child's inheritance.

The more I think about it, I think you're right - strong probability of a drug interaction, whether legal or not. Simple OTC cold remedies can easily increase your heart rate by themselves, let alone in combination with other stuff. Plus, you know damn well that most people don't take it as directed.

I'm 99% sure that it's B12, which is given intramuscularly.
