I agree, but I fail to see how reading the Chronicles of Narnia is supporting one religion. I mean are kids never supposed to read anything that has any religious message at all. If so, then all books prior to like 1849 would have to be omitted and most of today's classics as well.

I mean in theory LOTR is about a religion - should that not be read. Should all of the Greek Mythology not be read. Should Plato, Aristotle, etc. not be allowed? They all are heavily religious in theme.

Exactly. Forget the wonderful poetry of Milton and such...

There is so much Christian literature out there in public schools...what do you plan we do Josh, stage a burning?

Go to the "Just Read, Florida" website. They link to Walden Media, which has a whole section on "17-week Narnia Bible Study for children." The book itself is pretty much an alternative telling of the story of Christ.

I don't know, use your brain. Walden Media, a company owned by big Republican donor Phil Anschutz, is getting all this publicity for their movie projects from Jeb Bush and the state of Florida. I find that interesting, but you may not.

Well, there is no secret that they are religious zealots. But, that does not make The Chonicles of Narnia less of a classic does it?

They must have removed it after all the hoopla earlier this month.

Are you sure that it was EVER even there?

Have I argued such a thing? I think not. All I said was that I don't particularly care for the government promoting a book that retells the story of Christ. You don't have to agree with me, dollface.

Considering I went to it using the "Just Read, Florida" website, yes, I am.

Yep. Oh, and I don't like LOTR. Not that that makes it bad, of course.
I don't want to see people act out those parts, and everything else. I can't envision them doing such a good job that I will like the movie.

It's possible, and I hope they do, but I really doubt it.
I'm so glad you included the word "assinine" in that post, too. That was extra special.
