My dad says "Crick" though. (erm, Creek).

Hate crick.

Hate roof sounding like "ruff."

And I hate coupon being pronounced "cyoo-pon".

Deanna - I'm with you on the then/than your/you're etc. I have screwed this up myself on occasion, I'm sure. But some people do it constantly & it drives me crazy.

Hate "really?" No, I just said that for kicks. Okay, only when Blurt says it.

I'm guilty of "cyoo-pon" and occasionally of the "ruff." But ITA with you guys on the then/than, your/you're, etc. Another that annoys the piss out of me is when people say "pacific" instead of specific. That just makes a person sound so uneducated.

My sister-in-law, who is 37, totally butchers the pronunciation of some words and it drives me insane. Instead of ambulance, she says "ambliance." It just makes me cringe every time, not that it comes up THAT often, but still....

A bit OT, but can anyone explain where "beyootch" (and other spellings) comes from? (not what it means, I get that! ) I see American ledgies use it here but I'd never heard of it before. And how are you supposed to pronounce that?

Beee-yoch. Accent of the beee.

I don't know where the hell it came from, but I say it all the time.
