Phrases you hate...
 

SO I was listening to NPR this afternoon and someone mentioned "licking their wounds" I really hate that phrase.

So I thought I'd open it up - what phrases do you hate?

More on my list:

"Your ass is grass"
"Move it or lose it"

Those sayings just really really get on my nerves...

'Get yer done' BARF.

'Final Answer?'

'You are the weakest link!'

'The early bird gets the worm'

'Your mom'

The city of (insert name here) "is in shock" tonight...

"That's Ms. Bitch to you"
"Say it to the hand" (Hello Mr. Hand...)

Thought of another:

"President George Bush."

Makes me shudder and get nauseous everytime I hear it.

The one I really hate: "That's what I'm talking about". :mad:

Not really a "phrase" but the words "bling bling" spur violent mad emotions inside me...I HATE those words above all - don't know why but they grate on my nerves like nothing else...:mad:

'It's like talking to a brick wall'

'Don't count your eggs before they hatch'

'That may or may not be the case' -well obviously

'Da bomb'

'That's money' -this is a new one I hate. My neighbor has 2 boys in middle school and they say it constantly. "That 50 Cent song is money, yo."

"pound it" the guys I work with say it ALL day long and it gets real old fast.

I always think--yes, what DO you know????

Not necessarily phrases- more along the lines of words used.....

The overuse of the word "like".

The substitution of "go" for "says" or "said".

The substitution of "boughten" (not even a word...) for "purchased".

The plural of "you guys" ("you guys's") as a substitute for "your".

The incorrect usage of "irregardless".

The incorrect usage of "verbiage".

The acronym "F.Y.I.".

The overuse of the word "basically".

The pronunciation of the word "the" as "thee" to somehow signify importance.

The mispronunciation of the word "data".

The concept and usage of the term "family values".

The overuse and misinterpretation of the term "tragedy" in local news reporting.

You should never talk to me.
