This has to be one of the most beautiful Stevie/Lindsey songs never recorded. Why have they not considered using it for a Fleetwood Mac record? It would have been a great edition to Say You Will. Even if they can't hit hit all the notes exactly I am sure they could do a pretty good job. I mean who would have ever thought Stevie could hit the notes she did on Smile At You. Her voice never sounded better on that song (In my opinion). Anyways, I just think it is a shame they may never do this track on an official album.

Well first of all I think I'm the only one who doesn't think Without You is THAT great. I think it's OK but nothing special. AND why have they never put it on a Fletwood MAc record. Well thats a kind of Stupid question, they could NEVER pull of those harmonies today.

It's an awesome song. It's probably the closest thing to a non-angry love song Stevie and Lindsey have. And according to BuckinghamNicks.net they both wrote it which seems to be a rare thing. I think they've definitely both moved on from that Everly Brothers style harmony thing, similar to their harmonies on IDWK. I just can't picture this nice little song in the midst of Come and Smile At You. The demo is really a gem and I don't know if it could be improved anyways. I bought Mirage the other day and was looking forward to hearing the album version of That's Alright and I was a little disapointed. The demo is better.

I thoroughly enjoy the demo of "Without You"...I'm trying to hear in my head what this song would be today with their "more mature" voices. I would definitely be up for hearing a 2004 version. While Stevie lost that sort of range long ago, she never ceases to amaze in compensating in other ways. And the Buckingham Nicks harmony IS still there. I'm sure they could do something great with it, and it would be fun to see done. I'm thinking a la watching them work through "World Turning" in the Destiny Rules documentary...that was one of my favorite parts of the whole thing. It would be great to get to watch B & N trying out some of those old songs, or new ones for that matter!!!

I love Without You. IMHO, they could pull off this song today with a few changes. If BN is ever released on cd, they should include the WY demo...it's that good.
Perhaps they do not feel comfortable using a song like WY today because of the subject matter? I dunno, it is one of the purest love songs they have ever written to each other, maybe they don't want to "go there" on a present day album?

I love that song. It's so chilling.
But it's just MY opinion.

As for the subject matter I think it would be easier for them to do now than say in the 80s. Songs like Sara, Say Goodbye, and Goodbye Baby are pretty personal and Lindsey and Stevie seem to be at a place where they can accept that those feelings are part of their past and sing/play with heart, revisiting for those few minutes. So I think it would be more likely for them to do it live than to actually put it on an album because I don't think the song meshes with the material they're writing now. Hopefully that makes sense and I'm really enjoying discussing this.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear it was one of the demos they did for "Buckingham Nicks #2" or one of the demos they brought to L.A. with them. |

But, it seems logical that it would be ![]() I just think the lyrics are beautiful - maybe more beautiful than the way they sing it and that is perfection IMO!!!! - In my life, There's been a few things worth singing, About you. Well, I never even dreamed that I'd know you. Strange are the ways, Of a very complicated world . . . And there you are. Come to me now, And I'll never know another. You are a song for me; A melody, Ingrained in my soul. Sing, sing your song. For my ears, they only hear you. If I never knew the likes of you, Where would I be without you? Without you . . . Without you . . . Yeah. If I'd not heard your laughter, Maybe I wouldn't love you. If I'd not sung your music, I'd not come rollin' after you . . . Whoa yeah. Right out loud, The time had come and gone, Without you. Inside me, love to be written about you. Strange are the ways, Of a very complicated world . . . And there you are. Come to me now, And I'll never know another. You are a song for me; A melody, Ingrained in my soul. Sing, sing your song. For my ears, they only hear you. If I never knew the likes of you, Where would I be without you? Without you . . . Without you . . . Yeah |

It doesn't strike me as something Lindsey would have written, it's more of a Stevie tune. Great song, though.
