![]() Seriously, do not expect the price to come down anytime soon, even if oil drops to $30 a barrell. Notice how the prices never really come down Still, $2.00 a gallon is not bad when compared to the rest of the world and that price point equates to about $30 a month more than what was the norm for the last decade or so. For example and on average (some will have more some will have less depending on how much they drive and what they drive), three tanks a month at 20 gallons per tank is 60 gallons, which at $2 a gallon is $120 - at $1.50 a gallon it is $90) - for some, which I submit is few - that is a HUGE stretch on their budget, esp. if they drive for a living, etc. To most, however, that is not. The oil companies know this. Thus, the prices are sticky downward.NOTE: I am not condoning this - I am just speculating as to the reason, etc. Also, I get that $30 a month is alot of monry to alot of people. I am just saying on average, it is not or at least it is not to the point that it cannot be "found" by saving in other areas. But, yes, for the truly poor that have a car or are effected in other ways by high fuel costs (power, bus fare, etc.) - that need to make every dollar count, it sucks and I hate it. |
