Selfishly, I'm hoping that the reason SN isn't keen to book in any FM album or tour commitments in the first half of 2012 is because she's finally going to sort out some European dates for after she gets back from Oz in December. That would be sweet and also make sense of LB's comment that she's enjoying supporting IYD so much, etc.
I agree that they send up a lot of conflicting smoke signals, too, but one I really liked and latched onto was Mick saying a few weeks ago that they might just do a few tracks - in effect, an EP. I think Dave S's and LB's appetite and vision for how FM might operate in the modern world means that they might do something like that. As for relevance? I don't think music has been relevant since the 1980s. It's mostly hedonistic now and that means acts have relevance to you if the sound they make gives you pleasure. On that basis, FM are definitely as relevant as any other. Loz |
