well...
i was 8 when i heard THE VOICE of "rhiannon" and was enthralled...when i found out it was a girl....i KNEW i'd found a friend, since i didnt have a typical "girl" voice, either...
then when i was 11...(ugly, awkward... brown eyes/messy brown hair) the neighbor guy (1st crush-neighbor guy) had the FM & RUMORS albums...it was the 1st time i saw HER (FM back cover-brown eyes/unruly brown hair) .....she made it ok 2 be me...she was the 1st female i remember that made it ok in the 70's to NOT look like Cheryl Tiegs.....she's also the 1st FEMALE to DEFINE what it means 2 be a 30,40, 50, 60+ y.o. "rock and roll star".... she's done it...beautifully....(and for the most part, "naturally")... Rolling Stone got it right ALL those years ago.......there will only ever really be one "QUEEN"...

a child of the 80's, i felt such a connectoion to this song! i was 11 when it came out n i just feel like it encapsulates Stevie's mystique to me.

I don't know what is was about Nightbird...

I knew Fleetwood Mac. My sisters were all into Rumours when it came out. Made me sick to my stomach. My sister who was way older than us, used to make us sing backup to Dreams in 1977 and 1978. I hated Stevie Nicks. I mean I wanted to throw-up when I heard her voice.

However, it was that one time, when I walked into that convenience store and heard Nightbird, that I was really floored. I must been about 12, but there was just something about that song. I think it was the originality of it. It was a pretty song, but had a chorus I had never heard before. The structure of that song really intrigued me. I didn't even know it was Stevie Nicks. I just knew there was something really different about that song.

I was not allowed at that young age to buy albums. Especially, hers, because she was a witch. However, in 1986 my brother purchased Rock A Little. We were a little older. I remember listening to Has Anyone Ever Written and just thinking that song was really good. I was going through a hard time and would listen to that song over and over.

I wasn't really hooked until I heard Bella Donna. I didn't buy it until like 1988, but after I heard it, I quickly purchased everything thing I could. I loved that album. And then I discovered her other music, her off songs with Fleetwood Mac. I was basically hooked for life, and am soo pleased with In Your Dreams....

The song that drew me in was Rhiannon. I found it quite by accident; bored one day, googling friend's names... I'd never heard a voice quite like Stevie's, and that guitar riff totally had me.

As for favourite picture of Stevie... quite easily this one;

1. The song that drew me in:

My mom has Rumours on cd. I thought the cover was cool so I brought it along with me one night on a drive to someone's farm. When Dreams started playing, my mom said that she loved it.

I was amazed by the darkness and the guitar and Stevie's voice... I could go on. A while later I learned how to play the bass line and as I went through the rest of Rumours to find more songs to play along to, I was hooked. Finding the Buckingham Nicks album, the White Album, and Tusk really solidified that.

2. My favourite picture of Stevie:

I couldn't choose one picture as my all-time favourite, but I've loved this one for a few years:

Love that hockey hair.

I love any picture with the blue hair streak, the boots, and any live shots from 1975-1978.

I used to stare at the back cover of Rumours wayyy too much! I think it was because of how utterly miserable and freakish I felt, not being into punk in Scotland in 1978. Being into Janis and Jimi and Jefferson and Joni was completely unacceptable in my school. Maybe that's why I find myself forming a fist whenever I read LB's comment that he would've liked to be in The Clash.

I've always loved this pic of Stevie, though. She had everything I didn't: great hair, nice teeth, a suntan, breasts. She still inspires me in many ways that are a lot more 'sophisticated' than back then, but this was the pic that made me go 'Who the hell is that?'

Ok flash forward to my senior year second semester (this March). Confession: I watch Glee but haven't mentioned it on the board because I was embarrassed at what you guys would think. Well I was watching the Behind the Scenes video that comes out before the episode airs. Of course this was the video with Stevie Nicks and I freaked out. I was like "this is probably the coolest lady ever!" I mean everything about her: her graciousness, her cool outfit and of course the crescent moon necklace

. They mentioned that they were doing her song "Landslide" on that night's show. I had never even heard of the song before. So I immediately went to iTunes and found the FM White Album and sampled "Landslide" well as you can imagine it immediately resonated with me. I could identify with the lyrics unimaginably well. Well because of that I bought the entire White Album and of course in the reviews of this album it kept mentioning this little album called "Rumours". I went ahead and bought that album too...without sampling any of the songs...I trusted "Landslide" that much. And believe me those two albums exceeded my expectations! Christine's songs were great and had the definite hook to them. Lindsey's guitar playing made me shake my head in disbelief at how raw and emotional it was...."I'm So Afraid" anyone? But it was "Rhiannon", "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman" that really got to me. Never in my life had I ever heard song lyrics that resonated to me. And of course that voice!! Never had I heard someone sound so strong yet so vulnerable at the same time. And the fact that she was able to be totally rock n' roll but completely feminine at the same time...well that just sealed the deal.Needless to say, I was hooked. I quickly bought everything FM and Stevie had ever done including everybody's solo albums. And as soon as I heard about IYD well I preordered that stuff...if there is one thing I owe to Glee it is this. Stevie's music has not only gotten me through some tough times now but also has allowed me to reconcile with some past issues I never thought I would have. So for all the crap people give to "Landslide" I can't hate it because it is what introduced me into the crazy, mystical wonderful world of Stevie....thanks

Landslide is a beautiful and very introspective song.
