I agree Nico, those are good photographs.I feel the same way about James McCartney's music as you do.I don't dislike it.I just couldn't feel it either. But James started much older as a musician and songwriter and performer.Than Sean or Julian or Dhani, or Ringo's son who is drummer like his Dad.From what I have read,he started in his early 30's.Which is not old at all.But its going a few years for him to learn what he needs to, become a good musician and performer.I did see that his Dad is one of his producers. So his his dad to will be influence on him as recording artist and performer to.I am glad Paul is supporting his son.To help keep the sharks away from him.You know there is plenty scumbags in the music world. That would love to exploit, burn and screw over one of the Beatles, Kids.I think he will improve with practice and performing with each year in the music business.Lets not forget he has Pauls genes in him to.I have some updates, before the weekend.Everyone have a safe, positive and great weekend and take care.
I got this off of Julian Lennon's official Facebook page. That he posted on August 4, 2011 posted by Julian Lennon " Yesterday, I had the pleasure of performing Live with Jools Holland & his band & also had the opportunity to play a few tracks from my forthcoming album 'Everything Changes', as well as a few tracks by other artists I love, like Crowded House, Nerina Pallot & The Blue Nile. I agree with you Nico.Having his Dad's genes doesn't mean that he'll necessarily turn out to be a great artist.Well see with in the next few years what happens with James music.I also started really liking Dhani's music when he started working with Ben Harper to.I really like Rufus Wainright's music to.I do have some new updates.Everyone have safe and great week and take care.
BBC News Liverpool August 5, 2011 John Lennon's Quarrymen Cavern debut date questioned John Lennon's debut at the famous Cavern Club was earlier than that listed by Beatles' historians, a former bandmate has claimed.Rod Davis, who played banjo alongside Lennon in The Quarrymen, says the date of 7 August, 1957 is incorrect.Mr Davis performed in the skiffle group at the club with Lennon, but was on holiday in France in early August 1957."No question about it, I played three or four times at The Cavern and it was definitely before August," he said." I have my dad's passport which says 'Entry to Boulogne 29 July, 1957', so I was definitely not there." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...yside-14406088 Liverpool Echo August 5, 2011 Liverpool Academy of Arts presents Beatles exhibition Back From the USSR (GALLERY) It was 1968 when the Beatles sang ‘you don’t know how lucky you are boy, back in the USSR’. But being discovered listening to those lyrics would leave you very unlucky indeed if you lived in the old Soviet Union at the time. The Fab Four were deemed unsuitable for Soviet ears by the Kremlin (they were denounced as ‘capitalist pollution’ and Beatlemania as an ‘ugly manifestation of bourgeois culture’), and possession of their records could get you into big trouble. So much for all you need is love.Still, dedicated Soviet Beatles fans were undeterred and developed some ingenious ways of getting round the restrictions. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liver...0252-29180589/ The Bookseller 8-5-2011 McCartney contributes to veggie cookbook Kyle Books is linking up with ex-Beatle Paul McCartney’s Meat Free Mondays endeavour with a new recipe book which aims to encourage readers to go vegetarian one day a week. The proceeds from The Meat Free Monday Cookbook will go to the not-for-profit campaign, which is celebrating its second anniversary this year. Set up by the ex-Beatle and his daughters—fashion designer Stella and photographer Mary—Meat Free Monday encourages people to go “meat-free” at least one day a week in order to reduce their impact on the environment, improve their health and save money. From the upcoming video by Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl ' Victorian Cyborg'
July 2011 http://www.broughtonfilm.com/victoriancyborg.html http://www.broughtonfilm.com/victoriancyborg/index.html Genemyers August 8, 2011 “We All Shine On” an interview with Yoko Ono on John Lennon’s art Yoko Ono knows what it’s like to have people second guess her work because of who she is. Many who are unfamiliar with her success in the art world before she married John Lennon assume she didn’t earn her avant-garde status. The same kind of people write off John’s ability as a visual artist. http://genemyers.wordpress.com/2011/...n-lennons-art/ Art daily August 9, 2011 Japanese Musician and Artist Yoko Ono Awarded the 8th Hiroshima Art Prize HIROSHIMA.- In 1989 the city of Hiroshima, first place in the world to suffer a nuclear attack, established the Hiroshima Art Prize with the object of promoting through art the "spirit of Hiroshima" that yearns for permanent world peace and prosperity for all humanity. The Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art is to stage an exhibition showcasing the work of the eighth prize winner, Yoko Ono. http://www.artdaily.org/index.asp?in...&int_new=49703 utopiaparkway August 2011 ? Ring, ring. ‘Hello?’ ‘This is Yoko Ono speaking.’ (‘The Encounter’, Jan Mot, Brussels) ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe this’, the girl said, after she had put down that white phone. ‘I don’t even remember what she said. Something about buddhism and that she was in Tokyo and that she was sending us her love.’ Or what can happen if you walk into Jan Mot (Brussels) on a Saturday afternoon and the phone rings. Pick it up and you’ll have Yoko Ono on the other end of the line. Even the people at the gallery were slightly amazed: ‘This is actually the first time it rings.’ Yep, while most*galleries are closed for the summer, Jan Mot presents The Encounter*(through September 3, Tue-Sat, 2-8 (!) pm),a small show with just a couple of works, focusing on that element of encounter. http://utopiaparkway.wordpress.com/2...-mot-brussels/ |

Vancouver Sun August 8, 201 McCartney's magical understanding of music Song has healing power as Maysles documentary of Beatle's New York tour post 9/11 attests Sir James Paul McCartney was momentarily lost in thought. And even though his thoughts were silent in the empty air of a satellite transmission from Cincinnati, where he would perform a concert later that evening, those thoughts took on an almost vibrant, visible quality.A writer from Postmedia News had just asked the former Beatle - an ardent, tireless supporter of charity benefit concerts and the most commercially successful songwriter in history, according to Guinness World Records - about the transformative, healing power of music, and why music can heal on a global scale following moments of tragedy in a way that politicians' speeches and the late-night comedy shows can't. http://www.vancouversun.com/entertai...077/story.html My Fox Memphis August 9, 2011 Original Beatle Pete Best Opens Elvis Week in Memphis MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Before The Beatles were known in every corner of the globe, this was The Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Pete Best."December 19th, 1960 and that was the start of Beatle Mania in Liverpool."At his hotel in downtown Memphis, Pete Best waits for his Tuesday evening show at the Levitt Shell, where he and his band will blur geographic lines between Liverpool and Memphis."We're looking forward to it, this is like the inauguration - we've been picked to represent Liverpool for the tour, we're very proud of that." http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news...s-rpt-20110808 CubaHeadlines August 8, 2011 Where Cubans Can Meet the Beatles at Last Havana Journal. Beatles’ lyrics line the walls of the Yellow Submarine HAVANA — The hair and accents were wrong, but the audience cared about just one thing: the house band was singing the Beatles, here, in a new bar called the Yellow Submarine, in Cuba, where such an act might have led to arrests in the mid-1960s.People gather outside the Yellow Submarine in Havana.Better yet, perhaps because of that history, the band played like rebels. Fast and raw, they zipped up and down the bass lines of “Dear Prudence” as if the song were new. They raced through “Rocky Raccoon,” and when they reached the opening words of “Let It Be” — “When I find myself in times of trouble” — the entire crowd began singing along, swaying, staring at the band or belting out the chorus with their eyes closed in rapture.“If there’s no Beatles, there’s no rock ’n’ roll,” said Guille Vilar, a co-creator of the bar. “This is music created with authenticity.” http://www.cubaheadlines.com/2011/08...s_at_last.html City of Walnut Ridge.com August 2011 Dedication Set for Beatles Sculpture (Walnut Ridge, Ark.)- The Beatles are coming back to Walnut Ridge! Plans have been set for a September unveiling of the Beatles sculpture and some special guests have committed to be a part of the ceremony. The Liverpool Legends, a Beatles tribute band from Branson, Mo.,have committed to headline the event, which will be held Sept. 18th 2011 at downtown Walnut Ridge in the parking lot of Regions. (The same place that the Iron Mountain Festival is held) It will then be taken to its permanent home in a “pocketpark” on NE Second Street donated by Charles and Jackie Snapp..“We continue to be amazed at the response we are getting to the Beatles sculpture,as well as our planned guitar plaza downtown. The Liverpool Legends actually contacted us after seeing a story about our plans on a Springfield, Mo.,TV station,” said Charles Snapp, a member of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce tourism committee, which is planning the project. The tribute band is operated by Louise Harrison, sister of late Beatles memberGeorge Harrison, and she also plans to take part in the unveiling. http://cityofwalnutridge.com/dedicat...les-sculpture/ Last edited by msLinds; 08-11-2011 at 12:32 PM.. |
