This would be great - and an EP is perfect for the current market and time constraints.

There's typically too much material for even 1 LP! I can't see the idea of an EP happening. Maybe it will be a Double EP!

Hmm... I guess if it has to happen then an EP is better than an LP. Unless the EP is a lead up to full album then I don't think they should bother and should just do a full album right off the bat. Hopefully Lindsey still has plenty of say in the production process!

I'd rather an EP than nothing. But with how awesome Lindsey and Stevie's recent songs have been, I would love to hear more than like 2 songs from each of them to be honest.

I agree that if there's going to be an LP they should just skip the EP all together.

Agreed. And so we really want Fleetwood Mac's potential last recordings to be an EP?? Between the 2 of them, Stevie and Lindsey should have no problem coughing up material. But still, 12 tracks to write, produce and arrange is a hell of a lot more work than 4 or 6

I just wonder why an EP? Do they just want to be able to put it out quickly, or something?

I'm thinking maybe it's some sort of like testing-the-waters thing to see how Dave does with FM. Perhaps they didn't want to commit to a full-fledged LP with him without knowing how it would work. And by they, I mean everyone except for Stevie

I think this is it exactly. 4-6 songs, short, sweet, not very time consuming and it gives everyone an idea of how it will feel to do an album with Dave at the helm.

I'd rather have an EP, and then an album afterwards.

Or perhaps initial intentions to do an EP will develop into a full fledge FM cd if things progress smoothly & the creativity is there. I would be happy with a 12 track FM finale (6 from each writer). The EP idea could also be a test run to go in and record a few songs and see if things work out. Dave likes to work quickly to Lindsey's snail pace, this could be a good thing. This is encouraging news.

Oh please. Either confirm that you're doing it or shut up. Especially now that the story is out there. I have never known a band, or a solo performer like Stevie, as bad for hinting at if's, buts and maybe's, I'm sick of it and now only want confirmed news and while I do appreciate the tweets, Dave is now doing the same.

I thought that too but with the length of time he's taking on Stevie's documentary and also her videos I'm starting to wonder...

Ouch "could be " is pretty much a yes though, I mean if he wasn't he'd like "no where did you hear that who is spreading these vile lies!!" or he'd just ignore the tweet. I don't think Dave is mean enough to say maybe to a plan he'd never heard about before in his life just to make fans go rabid... though maybe I'm wrong

My suspicion is that an EP is the way for the rest of the band to test the waters of working with Dave. I think if, when they're making this EP (if it happens), they're all completely comfortable, it'll morph from an EP and into an album, but, if they're not comfortable, they'll still release it anyway to both get a little bit of money, get back into the routine of the four of them working together, and then make an album without Dave. So, by saying it's going to be an EP, they're not over-committing to something they're not 100% confident in.

So are EPs typically released on an actual physical medium, etc or just in like a digital/mp3 format?

I think that is a very feasible theory! Lindsey has stated that the idea of an outside producer is possibility. It would take the burdon off of him, and would serve as a balance between him and Stevie.

I think an EP is a great idea and could be just the way to test how he'd work for an album. I'm not down on that plan at all, any new FM music is always great to hear. I just don't like the uncertainty and as someone else has already said, they should have learnt from the Sheryl Crow debacle and not announce anything until it is completely official. If the story gets out early - either confirm it or shut it down - don't keep it going by hinting at what may or may not be happening.
