"Julia" ~ My Favourite Version

Just listened to "Take 5" again.

Yes, the music and harmonies are nice. But, like "How Still My Love" and "Outside the Rain", I find this "official" version a bit too polished and rehearsed. Harmonies are amazing, and the production is fantastic with all the instruments.

But Stevie just isn't emotional enough for me. IMO IMO IMO

But I agree, I would love to have the Wild Heart version, I haven't heard it in a while, and from what I remember it was a tad more uptempo, edited tighter. Do you have that one Mike ? I have it somewhere on some of the CD's bootlegs I bought off Ebay in the 98' or so.

The piano demo you posted is an edited version of the 9:38 min. demo, where she seems a little bit, Ummm Tipsey, High or both......"That Note! This F**king Note" LOL. Love it.

If I can figure it out, I'll link the Take 5. But it seems to have the 'Julie' and 'two things' segments Mike referred to, so I'm a little confused. These things do get mislabeled. But the 6:15 version seemed to be the one that was considered the master and purchased from storage and shared here in early 2007, and most everyone said it was the clearest sounding cd-quality, definitive 'Julia'.

If I may ask, what makes you think this is from the Wild Heart sessions?

I'll tell ya why:

In June 1996, I played the version Nathan posted over the phone for Gordon Perry here in Dallas, and he confirmed that that was indeed the version he produced here in Dallas in 1982 of "Julia" for The Wild Heart. He also produced "Destiny", "Gate and Garden", "All The Beautiful Worlds" and "Wild Heart".

The version Nathan posted of "Julia" is confirmed by the man who produced it as from The Wild Heart.

I interviewed Gordon for a few hours here in Dallas and got lots of information about many of Stevie's unreleased recordings.

The first outtake I posted is an outtake from Bella Donna.

The piano demo is from January 1980.

I had about 40 Stevie songs ready to upload and share, but it's just not working. Like I said, hopefully I will have DSL soon, and maybe that's the problem and it will be solved.

I thought for sure someone would post that version by now.
