I don't doubt a word of it. It seems ridiculous that if you spent that amount of time with a bunch of people who were rich, famous, neurotic as hell, and doing copious amounts of drugs, that you would need to fabricate stories.
If anything, you would want to edit extreme **** out. The only thing I find hard to believe is why she waited so long to publish it. It is decades past the point where a large numebr of people even care about any of this. It isn't like it is going to make any real money. That ship sailed long ago.

I also agree that she is not making shiitte up for the reasons you say. Now, she could be adding some stretchers ![]() In the end, it is her story to tell because she was there. So, I do not fault her one bit. I mean LB wrote about her in songs and talked about her in the BTM special - both of which were for profit. So, why shouldn't she? |

Read it, you guys. For starters there are just too many inaccuracies (one big glaring one as well) and secondly, the whole feel of the book is just off. It alternates between bouts of over the top gushiness to downright resentment towards the band and it's individual members. One would expect nothing else from someone that was as close to Fleetwood Mac as she apparantly was, but throughout the entire book (and I am about halfway so far) the resentment becomes the thin red line, making the gushing look incredibly forced and fake. And that's what bothers me, because she is only focusing on the supposed bad stuff. 98% of all of the conversations or interactions between Lindsey and the band, or her and the band or Lindsey and Stevie are tinted with hostility. Like she turned around every conversation to make it fit into her tale of 'Lindsey and Carol: United against the bad people of Fleetwood Mac', deliberately leaving out all the happier or loving moments. And surely, those must have taken place also. Like it was said somewhere else, she's completely romanticizing their tale and making it seem like they cared about nobody else and nobody cared about them. I just have a hard time accepting everything she says as the gospel truth, especially if you take those inaccuracies into consideration. I have no doubt that some of her recollections are spot on, but overall I am still taking this with a huge grain of salt. |

If this book is true, false, fabricated, whatever, it's still a good read. I just don't take it too seriously. I thought it was hilarious! Here is the part about Chris's underwear -
Christine could out-drink any man but had never learned to do girly things or dress up like a homecoming queen. Once, dirving to a band photo shoot with Richard Avedon, one of the world's famous photographers, she was pulled over by the NYPD, who suspected they'd seen her snorting coke as she drove. Fortunatly she'd snorted the entire stash, so there was no proof. But to her humiliation and fury she'd been strip-searched while wearing the large graying pair of knickers we all keep in the bottom of our lingerie drawer. "I was saving my new pink silk ones for the shoot!" she screamed at us all, still raging, when she arrived. "I was wearing my usuals!" "Oh my God, Chris, not the cotton English granny knickers?" Stevie gasped. Big knickers weren't Stevie's style. From a wealthy family, she'd grown up in silk. Christine nodded and burst into tears. John Courage leapt to his feet, shaking his fist. "I'll have their badges!" he promised. Christine was a guys' girl, a good sport-think Katherine Hepburn's elegance and boyish charm, or Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby. She was earth and tough, despite the pure voice and poignant love songs she wrote. She was the band mother, as Stevie was the wayward band child. |

One more part -
Another rule was that if any band members played silly games, we could all join in. With her mystical naivete, Stevie was an easy target for jokes as the males in the band bonded and weapt and swore botherhood in maudlin drunkenness. At the start of the Rumours tour, Stevie had left her hard contact lenses in while she partied for two days to celebrate the band's success, and had worn off her cornea. After being carried piggyback onto the stage by the famed promoter Bill Graham, she struggled through the rain-swept gig, wincing every time the spotlight hit her, and was immediately ordered by the doctor to keep her eyes bandaged for a few days. It was too much of a temptation for the jokers, even for her regular band of adoring girlfriends who traveled everywhere with her. For the entire four days that she was blinded, they dressed her in outrageous outfits - "You look really pretty today," we'd all grin- they put food and drink just out of her reach, and set booby traps for her to fall into. Very childish, of course, but we laughed like idiots. There was a touch of cruelty about it, but there was that boarding school undertone in much of the joshing that Mick and the two Johns initiated. if you believe a line from this then you must think that the Enquirer is the bible... so bogus! the stories sound so contrived and conspired Carol is a has-been that never-was trying to capitalize on an obvious rebound relationship she had 30 years ago, i'm sure she was probably high most of the time too...

This is a part early in the book where Lindsey takes Carol Ann to a Post Rumors party. (FYI Stevie is a no show.) Apparently, Chris starts asking Carol Ann all sorts of questions about her background, what she does now, etc. etc. Carol Ann says that she and her live-in boyfriend make bootlegs of concerts. They sneak in a mike and a tape recorder and then later produce colored vinyl LP's for sale. Chris asks her if she is planning to pirate Rumors and Carol Ann bleaches and says something like "OH NO! I would never do that." Then our little Carol Ann has passed "the test" and the band decides she is alright and can become a member of the inner circle. (Lindsey is gushing and so proud of his "little girl.") BTW...Chris was the member - delegated to interrogate little Carol Ann, who is viewed as a very innocent, delicate, child. There are many apologies about "sorry to put you through that but we HAD to know, etc. etc." Then the party is descibed and Carol Ann says people end up having to use the bathroom a lot -- quickly and frequently, even while they are still talking (cocaine reference) and she can't quite figure out why. Yes, it seems to get humorous as little innocent Carol Ann tells her story, like she is the little lamb and the rest are wolves in sheep's clothing. Only thing is that she is so naive', I can't tell if she is serious or just plain "stahoopid". |

Sounds hysterical. I am so buying this. It promises to be more entertaining than anything a member of the band has done in years. It is certainly the most interesting thing posted about on the ledge in forever.
