i post in the threads i read.. i just don't read very many threads, all the posts in them, or all of each post that i begin to read (for that matter). it is very clique-y, but that doesn't bother me. it was clique-y when we were active, too. everybody gets a turn. unless you just are totally uncool.

i'll have to take a look at the site. after doing so much research over the past year, i've developed a big interest
It's been over 30 years since I lived there. My Dad worked at the US Embassy. I loved Lebanon and hope to go back some day. It's sad that they can't live in peace. That site is great. Beirut has changed alot since I was there - very cosmopolitan and Americanized.

oh wow -- very cool.

from what i viewed via bourdain's special, it looked completely westernized. for a moment, you forget your watching people who aren't american. did you get to travel much outside of that area when you lived there?

It's always been very westernized. When we lived there it was considered the resort of the Middle East. It only takes a few hours to drive the full length of the country. We never got to venture outside of Lebanon because it wasn't safe for Americans. My Dad got to go everywhere with his work with the ambassador so I got to live it through all his photos. I still keep in contact with people we met in Lebanon and have met new Lebanese friends through my work.
