Help Needed!

to the tech savvy people out there...i'm trying to save this clip to my desktop in order to then insert the clip into a powerpoint presentation. for some reason, linking from the powerpoint to the video on the computer in the classroom does not seem to work so unless it's in the presentation, i won't be able to play it.

if you're able to save it as a file and send it to me, please message me. the fabulous greg has been assisting me but cannot seem to get it to work so if anyone else can, i'd really appreciate it. thanks!!! :wavey:

I'm trying a couple things out, but I don't think the situation is looking good, love. From what I can tell from looking at the code briefly, this is totally embedded in the site's custom player, which is flash. Sometimes even identifying the source of the file that's being played in a flash application such as this is a major obstacle.. I think that's your case here. It looks kind of like youtube to me.

greg (who is unable to respond at present -- see the cluster**** better known as "what are you thinking now..." for more information) was able to get it for me a few moments ago

I saw this show when it aired. I used to live in Beirut so I found it interesting. What kind of presentation are you using it for?

Riss, if all else fails could you just link to it and show it from that website? I mean, if it's something you really want to include, I'd think that would be ok, right?

it was a bruitally honest account of the situation from someone who was there. definitely refreshing and incredibly interesting.

this is probably really boring for most people...

i'm looking at framing of international news coverage of the israel/hezbollah conflict of july 2006. there were two main frames that emerged in all of the coverage from various newspapers. "proportionate” frames in reference to the situation convey a message indicating that israel’s response was fair and appropriate in regard to Hezbollah’s initial attack, where as “disproportionate” frames suggest that israel used too much or inappropriate force in its retaliation.

i'm using the bourdain clip to connect sort of a cultural frame to the presentation (joe's obvious disgust with hezbollah and as tony says, his worry of how american's will view the situation, etc.) annnd also so people won't fall asleep in my fifteen minutes of presenting

Oh, and leave it to Greg to get banned. That's rich. Don't these people know he'll just go off and make his own damn forum and steal people off here like the "pied piper"?

Who was it that said that anyway? I simply cannot remember.

for some reason, the groups who went today were having an issue with the computer in our class -- links to videos weren't working. so, i'm going to try it this way and see what happens. hopefully if it's actually embedded in the powerpoint, it will work. we shall see!

It's hard to believe that was almost a year ago. When it all started I got to wondering if our old home was in the middle of the bombing. I found a site that had a Lebanon message board (www.skyscrapercity.com). I'm not sure if the posts are still there (the site is closed for maintenance right now) but there were pictures and copys of newspaper articles from both the Lebanese and Israeli press. Just in case you may need more filler time :D
