Secondly...when I get the whole throat thing I can't speak or sing...which is not a bad thing because my singing is truly atrocious[sp?]...however...husky voice permitting....it just has to be Stand Back when no one can hear me...LOL!! Louise

I have always enjoyed singing when I have a cold/flu, and sound raspy, I have always admired singers who just sound raspy like they "just might" lose their voice, but do not. Janis, Stevie sometimes, Bekka Bramlett's Mom, Bekka, and Rod Stewart. It is not fun to be ill, but cool to sound that way for a few days, LOL..
~Barbara [QUOTE=Livia]So, I've been dealing w/ this upper respiratory infection crud since last weekend - went to the doc on Tuesday, got some antiobiotics....blah, blah. Well, last night I started to lose my voice and it's even worse today, even though I feel fine. Anyway, I've been having some fun with it, I keep singing Storms and Rock a Little, and my voice is cracking in all the right places. ![]() |

I can't stop singing , even when I'm sick. And I'm a natural tenor, but when I'm sick my voice goes into a total deeper register, so I love singing all the songs I can't normally sing well. I remember recording a demo once when I was with one of my old bands, and I was right in the thick of a cold. It sounded great but when I got better and tried to sing it, I couldn't hit the lower notes anymore.
This thread reminds me of that episode of Friends where Phoebe gets a cold and starts singing the blues because he voice sounds so sexy, then when she gets better she keeps trying to get sick again. She even licks Monica's drinking glass to catch her germs. LOL! |

I had walking pneumonia last November and had barely anything of a voice. So I walked around the house grumbling out sounds and pretending I was the Godfather. It was pretty cool...(not the sickness, of course).
My natural voice is somewhere in the middle. When I sang in chorus I couldn't even keep up with the soprano section (where 90% of the girls were), so they switched me to the alto section. I felt like a guy. ![]() |
