Anyone else do this when you're sick?

So, I've been dealing w/ this upper respiratory infection crud since last weekend - went to the doc on Tuesday, got some antiobiotics....blah, blah. Well, last night I started to lose my voice and it's even worse today, even though I feel fine. Anyway, I've been having some fun with it, I keep singing Storms and Rock a Little, and my voice is cracking in all the right places. :D

The other thing I've been doing is singing the Peter Brady song - "When it's time to change, you've got to...re-arrange...."

But my question is - who else but me does silly **** like this when you're hoarse? And what are you favorite Stevie songs, and songs by other artists, to sing?

I totally do that!!! I love when I have a throat thing - just for the singing

Of course - who doesn't?

Total Eclipse of the Heart & Bette Davis Eyes work well too.

I've never lost my voice... even when sick. Not even a tad husky...tho if it ever happened I know I would be doing my best Stevie impression!

Sore throat-benefits

Love singing Storms- Sisters of the Moon, When I see you again, and even Rhiannan.
I have a somewhat husky voice to begin with a la Susan St James speaking voice. but I always wanted it to be huskier and sexier
Not Bea Arthur (Maude ) husky
but like
Brenda Varcaro, or a Lauren Hutton, or a Dyan Cannon type of husky/raspy
voice.
I have to count my blessings- At lease I don't sound like Jessica Simpson or Katie Couric (yuck!!!)

When I have throat problems and stuff like that, I don't even speak. I get strep throat every year and I usually get it bad, so I stay mute for a few days until the meds kick in.

Yeah me too- but I don't sound like her (Or look like her either for that matter).
I have a trick for you- When I was a child (years and years ago- I always, always had very bad sore throats-tonsilitis-anyway I had to have my tonsils removed -but my point is...when you have a sore throat a very yummy treat that my Mom used to make me was ice cube orange juice.
All you do is take an ice cube tray and fill it with OJ- Let it freeze and then later when you mouth feels that AWFUL dry, burning, miserable, hot , scratchy mess, that you know it will feel like in a few hours....suck on an OJ ice cube- VERY GOOD, and you are even getting some vitamin c too :xoxo:
just a little tip from the tipster~~

I love to do that...although it does damage the voice (if you're a singer). I love to sing Love Don't Fail Me Now...why? I don't know...I just always feel the need to sing it when I'm hoarse...which really rarely happens

Maybe you should record your vocal of Rock A Little for The Gold Dust Project?

Hee-hee - well, the reason the Peter Brady one is so fun is that I can't control my voice or when it cracks, and I sing off-key - a LOT!

People at work are calling me Kathleen Turner...

SmileAtU 08-18-2005 12:52 PM

Haha! I am just getting over one of those myself and I totally did the same thing!
I Sing for the Things is totally different when I can make my voice crack right. I can also sing Landslide original version much better, it's a little low for me normally. But I tried it with quite a few different Stevie songs.

Too funny! I'm an "It's a Heartache" man myself. :wavey: Another good one to sing when you're sick is "Broken English" or "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" by Marianne Faithfull.
