I think if they did a one-off performance (filmed/taped for PPV & DVD) with as many members* as they could round up, I think Christine would agree to do it...if they decided to "take it on the road", I think Christine would gracefully decline.

*-Mick, John, Stevie, Lindsey, Bob Welch, Bob Weston, Bob Brunning, Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Rick Vito, Billy Burnette, Bekka Bramlett, & Christine...would be my guesses as to the participants. Sorry to both Daves & obviously Danny isn't in any shape to perform (from last accounts of his whereabouts & state-of-mind)

This would be a strange show and lot's of egos to contend with on what to perform. I hope it never happens.

Yeah, you say that now, but if it did, you'd be scrambling for tickets, though, woudn't ya?

Lis, she couldn't have meant that because, if she heard the album, she knew it's chock a block full of keyboards: synthesizers, workstations, modules, hardware, software & other assorted binary bit & microchip paraphernalia.

"Say You Will" actually needed fewer keyboards, not more.

I think what she meant by the "too much guitar" comment was that Lindsey's hogwild, jagged pseudometal on "Come" & "Murrow" just wasn't her cup of tea. I'm sure she felt it was excessive & possibly even tasteless.

Is it a true fact that they actually 'turned her music away' from SYW because she didn't want to tour? I thought Mick said she sort of hemmed and hawed about participating, and then decided not to. I didn't know she had really offered them anything.
I don't remember. It's all a big blur. There was a lot of hemming & hawing from both sides for many months there before it was finally settled that Mac would forge ahead as a foursome. There was some concern that if one of Christine's recorded songs became a hit, she wouldn't be there on the tour to perform it -- which is just idiotic. The band should have grabbed a hit wherever they could, even if there were strings attached. It wouldn't have been a big enough hit that audiences would have been dumbfounded or annoyed had Lindsey or Stevie sung the damn song onstage. I mean . . . hello? What did they do with "Don't Stop"? What did the '87-'90 touring groups do with "Go Your Own Way"? The only time it seemed to piss off fans was when the '94-'95 touring group did "Gold Dust Woman" -- & that wasn't really a case of audiences being pissed off, just the LB & SN fans who didn't actually attend a show.

Yeah, I had to put up with Lindsey butchering "Oh Well" for 12 years...but, I STILL missed the damned song when they omitted playing since The Dance. A butchered "Oh Well" is infinitely better than no "Oh Well".

That would be a hysterical show. The performances from almost everyone would be so fresh and vibrant, then they'd get to Stevie and Lindsey doing their eight year long rehearsed "Landslide" schtick and I'd explode into a ridiculously loud fit of laughter at how schmucky they are. Top it all off with a few jimmies made of speeches on cycles and a sweet cherry of lame "But the point is...here we are!" shouts, and it would be a show to end all shows. They'd have to haul out some ether just to calm me down.

I think she'd decline, too. It's pretty apparent based on everything she has said for many years that she wouldn't be interested in any sort of rock circus that required her to go back to sleeping in a different hotel room every night.

One wonders, however, whether she has stopped traveling entirely. How could a person with all that money not enjoy a little world travel every now & then? Does she never again want to take a cruise to Alaska or the Norway fjords, for example?

Does she literally want to spend every night in her own bed in Kent for the rest of her life?

See? He heard you hated the way he played it ... so he didn't play it.

Apparently, Stevie hasn't heard any of us complain about "Rhiannon."

I think touring and travelling are two very different beasts. At least when your travelling, your not in one city for a night, then back on a plane for a perormance the next night in another city. I mean that's crazy.

Travelling is much slower paced. Nights in Estoril for example....hehe.

I suppose...but I would be frightened to see it. Peter Green unnerves me with his sheer presence nowadays.

A set list like "The Dance, Part 2" or a "best of"? Forget it, I have all those CD's.

Look, they are all professional musicians. They should rehearse the new material the way they want them, drop into a studio for a day, record the thing straight through, spend the second day touching it up, and it's done. When it takes a month a song to produce, no wonder why Christine is tired. And then to go out on the road and do the same tired songs each night? Good night, nurse! Christine, I hope you are enjoying your retirement! You sure earned it!

See, this is what happens when you lay back and rest on the laurals of your "tried and true" ways. If the albums were spontaneous and quick and if the concerts were revamped every single tour with all new fresh songs, and each night something was different, we would be having a completely different conversation here. And Christine might have remained excited and interested in Fleetwood Mac...

But we love them anyway...

Did she ever take a cruise to Alaska or the Norway fjords? I wasn't aware she was a cruiser.

Maybe she does. I wonder if any of us...who for the most part live ordinary lives in that we more or less sleep in the same bed every night... can really fathom just how many nights in her life she has lain awake on some strange hotel room. Mick and John have both said that towards the end of the Dance tour she didn't like flying/traveling. She's said she got terrible insomnia on the road. I wouldn't have lasted a week, to be honest, as i get insomnia as well.

But anyway, the manner in which she could travel places on her own now is a whole different can of beans than what touring was. She was in the states for a bit last year to promote ITM...maybe she likes to travel a little a few times a year, who knows? At her age and after all her years w/ the band, she should do now whatever floats her boat.

You guys are too literal-minded. Unless I'm reading your replies literal-mindedly & not recognizing the levity.

the question remains: Is Christine through with traveling? Richard B brought up a good point: Traveling -- i.e., holidaying -- can be a leisurely, relaxing affair, whereas touring with a rock & roll circus is almost never relaxing (although it can be luxurious). So maybe Christine still likes to travel, assuming she ever did.

If getting on a plane for a single round trip doesn't bother her per se, that could mean the difference between her not showing up at a 40-year concert in the States & her agreeing to do it.

I would bet a lot of money she'd do a 40-year concert. Maybe even something like a series of concerts at Royal Albert Hall to be recorded for a CD/DVD. After all, It's as much her story, her legacy as it is anybody else's, and she knows that it would cheapen a big Fleetwood Mac family reunion if she weren't a part of it. While I don't think she'd like to make a habbit of it, I think she'd get a kick playing a gig with all of these people who were a major part of her life.

Some might point out that she didn't even sing with the band on "Don't Stop" when she saw them live. But, for me, that's different. That was THEIR album, THEIR tour, THEIR show. A 40-year show would be about the band's legacy as a whole, and after Mick and John, she was the most significant member of Fleetwood Mac. It would be inappropriate, IMO, to do this without her.
