Fleetwood Mac 40 Years Tour

Since there is so much gossip going around about a 40 years Mac tour what do the ledgies think? will it happen? will it not happen? what year will it happen? will there be new material? what will be the setlist?

Not sure what I think about this. I was thinking they would tour in 2007, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Rumours. But I think they'd want Chris & I don't know if that will ever happen again. Then I heard that things are being set up for a tour in summer of 2006, so I don't know what to think anymore.

Check out Bob Welch's message board for Bob's own views on it:

Where do I go to look for it? meaning where do I find it? Under his picture?

I can't imagine any kind of anniversary or farewell tour without Christine.

I haven't heard or read a word about such a thing. But it they were going to recognize the 40th anniversary of the band with a tour, I guess they could include members who were there before Stevie and Lindsey and therefore change up the setlist. I'm not sure I'd care to listen to any of it though.

And as for a tour honoring the 30th anniversary of Rumours, I think they've already commemorated this album to the point of exhaustion. It's time to release Buckingham Nicks on CD with new material and tour with it.

There probably will not be any new material which makes the setlist short I guess it will look like this:
The Chain
Dreams
Eyes of the World or IKINW
Second Hand News
Never Going Back Again
Rhiannon
Gypsy or Sara
Big Love
Landslide
Gold Dust Woman
I'm So Afraid
Silver Springs
Tusk
Stand Back
Go Your Own Way
encore(s)
World Turning
Don't Stop

I'd like to see Christine come out at least for Don't Stop.

I don't like commemorative tours or albums, especially if there isn't new material included, I find them too melancholic. But if there is a chance to bring back Christine, I hope they'll go on with the idea.

Christine has been retired from Fleetwood Mac for over 7 1/2 years... i doubt very highly she will return for even 1 show, let alone an entire tour..

I know you're right Brian, but it's nice to dream. :)

Click on his picture...then click on "Message Board". The weird thing about Bob's message board is that it is kinda upside-down...the new posts show up at the bottom.

although... i think if they DO decide to do another album as part of a 40th anniversary thing, that they absolutely should include Christine's work as part of it whether she will tour or not.. i think it was sort of a selfish thing for the band to say no to Christine after she offered participation on "Say You Will".... Just because she refused to tour, doesn't mean she couldn't at least contribute to the project itself.... it seemed as if Lindsey and Stevie wanted as much of their work on there as possible, which imo led to far too many tracks... some of which ("Not Make Believe", etc) were unused...

they could have gotten 3 different CD's out of the whole "Say You Will" experience if they had included Christine's work as well...

Honestly, even if it can sound irrational I would have a problem listening live a Christine classic without Christine, I didn't hate Don't stop probably because they changed it a bit, but to do the same with Why, Oh Daddy, Brown Eyes or Little Lies (I doubt they'd dare to touch Songbird) would make everything even more melancholic. About SYW, I would have loved Christine material too, but the 'hit issue' sounded logic. Even if they could have simply decide not to use one of her songs as a single... but what if there was the potential? I'm not sure what was the right thing to do.

Well, Christine is still a member of Fleetwood Mac.. the fact that they turned her music away simply because she retired from touring seemed a little disrespectful, imo... i think Christine was maybe a little hurt by that... didn't she say something sassy about "Say You Will" in an interview?? Something to the effect of "not enough keybords" or something like that? ;)

Well, I hope at least it was a mutual decision. By the way, she definitely said something like that... and she was right.
