I wouldn't say that.

When I saw Heart back in September, many of their new songs brought tears to peoples eyes. When I last saw Blondie, the crowd was in an altered state after War Child. Show me a crowd that doesn't get emotional after hearing Pat do Hell is For Children.

It's all subjective, sure, but don't discount their powers to get an emotional response from a crowd. It's not very fair, IMO, and circumvents reality.

She does.

Tina Turner puts on a rock show of epic proportions. She blows ever other female rocker off the stage. She exhausted me.

And if anyone can say that the likes of the Wildest Dreams tour was a theatrical show, or that the Private Dancer was more of a theatrical show than the likes of the RAL tour, I'll eat my hat. Let's not judge her entire touring career based on floating platforms.

And since when is that a reliable way to measure anything? To say that Christine Mcvie is a bigger rocker than Tina Turner is to say that Miles Davis is a bigger rocker than Keith Richards.

Tina is a force to be reckoned with. She's truly unparalleled when it comes to live performances, though I do think Bette Midler comes very close. Their energy is astounding and neither one of them misses a beat. It's almost inhuman.

On one of my Blondie boots (7/5/03, I believe), Debs introduces War Child by saying that they decided to do it again after 9/11 and says that those who are really affected by this current ****ty war are the children. I got chills when she did it at one of my shows, the ad-libbed lyrics made the hair on my arms stand up.

you weren't discovered by the khmer rouge
we hear of "your troubles" on the nightly news
plo lovers courting after curfew
exploding with terror, they never win or lose
the curse of religion, no one wants to choose
political favors with a corporate view
your fathers and brothers have the west bank blues

Debs rawks.

No I agree, in my opinion Tina's energy is unmatched. But Bette Middler, youa ren't going to pass her off as rock. Isn't she sort of like an entertainer who mixes comedy with a few songs mixed in. I've never ever thought of Bette as even musical I always associate her with acting.

I wouldn't classify Bette as "rock," but she's done her fair share of it. A lot of her stuff from the seventies and early eighties would put Stevie to shame in the rock category, IMO. As for her shows, they're 80% music and about 20% comedy/theatrics. Nothing beats them, she's jaw-droppingly good in concert.
