Interesting, thanks.
In an update filed last night, things grew even murkier, as it appears the split happened because he wanted to focus on solo work, and the rest of Fleetwood Mac wanted to tour.

It appears that maybe my half-serious scenario wasn't that far from the truth. However they could have worked it out differently without anyone getting out of the band like they did in Stevie's case.

P.S However Billy Burnette has been a bit of a douchebag to leak the news.

I have to admit, I do agree with you on this. I feel that we as fans have been robbed of a final SLCJM album by Stevie's unwillingness or inability to record with Lindsey. Where the fault lies with that situation is a slightly more open question. The loss of that album is as difficult to accept as Buckingham's departure.

If we accept that that album was never going to happen, then maybe the possibility of a SCNMJM album is an intriguing one. However, the realist in me thinks that this line-up is being put together solely to earn tour dollars.

Already I feel my earlier avowal never to go to another Mac concert eroding , hopeless case that I am.

I'm obviously working my way through whichever stage of grief I find myself at.

Thanks for the link, kenzo. Pretty song, and Neil's brother has some beautiful hair going on!

Or even Ryan Adams...

What I really love about the Crowded House community is their forward-thinking policy about recording shows. All of them are recorded and most have been made available through the fan club.

Here's one of my favorite songs from Neil.

And this is just a funny video. Neil has a great sense of humor onstage.

Thanks, Daniel. Both songs were interesting and I'm really curious to see what Neil Finn brings to FM. I can already see he's got a totally different sound from LB, which was a smart decision on the band's part.

re: the Salon article. it states:

Yet this current lineup switch isn't a perfect analog to the situation three decades ago. If anything, it might be better.
Campbell and Nicks have a long musical history and chemistry, dating back to the early '80s, when the Heartbreakers played on her solo debut LP, "Bella Donna."

hmm.. so I guess Lindsey's big mistake was in not forging a strong relationship with another female singer that he could collaborate with on his solo albums, that when Stevie decided not to record anymore with FM he could just slide into place

She really does finally have exactly what she's wanted for a long time: complete and full control over FM. She wrested it from Lindsey who wrested it from Mick.

Lindsey: “You’re here because I said so”

Stevie: “You’re gone because I said so”

True dat
We don't know the full story yet. But one thing we do know and has been reported is how fast this happened. Something happened quick and fast. A big fight? I wish cooler heads could have prevailed and time to think things over.

Yes, she finally has what she always wanted. And I sure as hell hope Mick knows what he's doing.

But he did forge such a relationship ... with Christine McVie. Why isn't she leaving the band so she can work with him some more? That is my real question. I've never been much of a Stevie fan, and I am completely uninterested in the contributions of the new members, so all that's left for me in FM is Christine, and I would MUCH rather see her doing more duo recordings with Lindsey.

After the wonderful time they had touring last year, and the excellence of the album they recorded, you'd think her artistic integrity would compel her to stick with Lindsey. So, either she has no artistic integrity or she has unbreakable contractual obligations to FM.

It's a shame, really; the real creativity is leaving the band with Lindsey.

Don't know why I have to work
Don't know why I can't play
Turn me off turn me out
But don't turn me away
Save me a place
I'll come running if you love me today

Don't know why I have to go
Don't know why I can't stay
Guess I want to be alone
And I guess I need to be amazed
Save me a place
I'll come running if you love me today
I'll come running if you love me today.

Tim Finn and Richard Thompson have a beautiful song called “Persuasion” that I think sounds like Fleetwood Mac. https://youtu.be/HRfoQyuSqhc
