Apologies in advance for putting a downer on things. Mick is still saying a tour won't start until the latter part of 2017 ('we are going to have to work on young Stevie'). If Stevie was committed to Fleetwood Mac at the present time then surely she'd want to get the album out in early 2017 (or late 2016) and support it as soon as possible. The fact she doesn't seem to be interested for at least another year still makes me sceptical about her commitment to an album. The fact she isn't doing a solo tour leads me to think she's doing other things (working on a solo album for solo tour early 2017? writing a book?).

I just can't see that if she was doing anything remotely FM-related at the moment she would be so insistent on a tour being so late next year.

Did I miss any "official" update on the status of the next tour and the latest on the new album with dates etc........ I didn't think so.

I think that if she were working on a solo album we would know it.Her producer is only slightly less tweet happy than say Donald Trump.

There's nothing brewing. It's beyond annoying. It's unforgivable. If Stevie doesn't want in, move on, put the material out. At this point, everyone of them is to blame for not releasing the music they worked on before the last tour. They're all old. The time is now. I'm a broken record. I have no choice.

Nothing is brewing or Mick would have mentioned it. Why mention the tour then? Why say "Christine keeps calling me and wants to know when we are going back out" On the road, no mention of new music. It is not happening. bye creative band.

Default Why do they bother waiting?

Hello all---

In an ideal world, all five of them would be together, on the same page, contributing their remarkable talents to a new album. The sum is always better than its parts, and the chemistry that these five people create when they are together is unique.

But it's clear that not everyone in the band has the same goals. And that's okay---it's a common thing, actually.

So, why do they bother waiting any more? As others have noted, they're not getting any younger. Let Stevie do her own thing and move on. She has earned her freedom and happiness. Like Christine, she can come back if/when she's ready.

For a long time, I blamed Stevie for not supporting a new album. But it's really not her fault. She feels the way she does, and she has every right to feel that way. It's the whole band's fault for not accepting that and moving forward.

Finish the tracks that Lindsey and Christine started, and release the album. If Warner Bros. or another label isn't interested in releasing it, then they should self-release it. They are rock hall of fame members and living legends. At the very least, they should be able to earn back the production costs by self-releasing the album and promoting it using their own mailing list and social media.

The days of making millions off record sales are through, anyway. The road is where they make their living. But self-releasing the new album is the key to being artists instead of an oldies jukebox.

I've seen the arguments about how "this band doesn't owe us anything." And on one hand, that's correct. You get what you pay for, and in the past, we've paid (let's face it...we've OVER-paid) for music and concert tickets and merchandise. We got something for our hard-earned dollars/pounds/etc.

But on the other hand, this is their job. So, in a way, they DO owe it to their fans AND TO THEMSELVES to remain creative. Lately, it seems like the only outlet for their creativity (not counting solo efforts, of course) is how creative they can get with trying to separate fans from their money. And, honestly, their not exactly blazing new trails in that area, either. Sell tickets 11 months ahead of time. Tour. Sell more tickets. Tour some more. It's not rocket science.

I love all kinds of music. I have a 160GB iPod Classic that is FULL of music by hundreds of artists. But I have never encountered a band that makes it SO HARD to love them. Being a Fleetwood Mac fan isn't a joy any more...it's work.

But it will all be worth it when we have that next (last?) studio album in our hands. Amen.

Actually, I almost think it would be cooler if they did a tour in 2017 to support the rerelease of Mirage, and play the check out of that album. Hold Me, Gypsy, Love in Store, Eyes of the World, Straight Back, Goodbye Angel, Smile at You, Wish You Were Here, and That's Alright would be great.

Very well said Matt- you wrote exactly what I've been feeling about FM!

Oh- and I love my iPod Classic too!

End this thread. Until we hear otherwise, the album has been shelved and they will do one more tour. Stevie does not want to work with Lindsey (in the studio) period. She can handle being on stage and faking a few moments (for the cash) but that's it. She's the one that shelved this thing and we all know it. All you have go do is go to Mick's restaurants FB page to see he is playing there this August and nothing is going on with the band.

I get it. Seriously though, these tracks are asking to be bootlegged. The full five-piece is good for touring but clearly...

I'd be happy with the Lindsey/Christine tracks being finished (John said he hadn't laid bass down) maybe one more tour with the new material and the Lindsey/Christine composed hits (take some backing vocalists along to complete The Chain) and call that it.

Yes they need to get in touch with reality and force Stevie to make a decision the way they did with Lindsey in '87. Matt Lucas is right - they need to stop pandering to Stevie and maybe I should retract my earlier remark that she needs to "either defecate or get off the karzi". If anyone needs to say that to her it's Mick.

Alternatively if John hasn't laid down his bass parts (and he has said that this could be his last tour) it could be released as a trio album. Buckingham/McVie/Fleetwood anyone? We all know Lindsey can play bass.

If John decides he's done after this, my vote for bass would go to George Hawkins, who could also add some amazing harmonies.

I want FM to go out on a high note, but I've never seen Lindsey live and I think deep down I just want him to tour solo

If John is done then Fleetwood Mac should be done.Even the equally greedy Eagles disbanded when one of their founding members passed.

I wasn't talking about them going on as Fleetwood Mac, but Mick, Christine, and Lindsey could still go on in a different configuration with a different name.

As for the Eagles, Glen was a singer/songwriter and was responsible for a lot of their hits. That being said, I don't see why they couldn't go on with Jackson Browne (probably the only one who could credibly take over).
