Default 'Stevie Nicks made me do it'.

If all else fails, blame Stevie....

http://malden.patch.com/groups/polic...made-him-do-it

A Malden man was arraigned this week on a warrant charging him with stealing a commercial ferry boat from Boston Harbor last Christmas, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Samuel LeClair, 62, of Malden was arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court after he was arrested on a warrant for alleged larceny over $250 as well as breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony.

Authorities said a "disheveled and uncooperative" LeClair was discovered alone on-board a vessel adrift in Boston Harbor shortly before noon Dec. 25.

The boat, the 68-foot passenger ferry Fort Independence, was later secured to the Federal Courthouse docks.

The story has another strange twist: LeClair reportedly told police he had untied the boat at the behest of his girlfriend, famed Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, whom he identified as the boat's captain and driver.

"Police did not locate the iconic singer-songwriter or any other person on-board," a statement from the Suffolk District Attorney's Office read.

LeClair was deemed competent to assist in his own defense, and was released by Judge Thomas C. Horgan on his own recognizance.

He has been ordered to stay away from the waterfront and not board any boat while his case is pending.

Though the idea of Stevie driving a boat tickled me, that statement totally floored me, can't stop laughing.

Default "Stevie Nicks Forced Me to Steal Boat" says Massachusetts Man

According to The Boston Globe, a 62-year-old man by the name of Samuel LeClair told police that he was in a relationship with singer Stevie Nicks, who advised him to untie and steal a boat.

LeClair was spotted by police on a 68-foot ferry boat in the Boston Harbor on Christmas day of last year.

The man was arraigned on Tuesday, July 16 and charged with larceny over $250. He was also charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony.

On Wednesday, July, 17 the judge released LeClair, who pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, the judge did order LeClair to avoid the harbor and not board any watercrafts.

I read this:

You would think being a member of Fleetwood Mac would mean that you could buy pretty much any boat you wanted. But according to one Massachusetts man, his recent arrest for the theft of a ferry is all Stevie Nicks‘ fault.

Raw Story reports that the man, 62-year-old Samuel LeClair, is accused of untying a 68-foot ferry from its moorings and setting off into Boston Harbor on Dec. 25, 2012. According to authorities, when the drifting ship was boarded by law enforcement, officers found a “disheveled and uncooperative” LeClair, who told them that Nicks — who he claimed was his girlfriend — had made him ship captain and told him to take the boat.

After a presumably thorough search, the District Attorney’s office claims that “police did not locate the iconic singer-songwriter or any other person on board.”
Somewhat surprisingly, LeClair has been deemed mentally competent to stand trial and released on bail, although the judge has already warned him to “avoid the harbor and not board any watercraft.”

Nicks, who has repeatedly expressed her belief in magic and could potentially have used an enchanted scarf to teleport off the boat and avoid capture, has not been reached for comment.

That was clever. I also liked that the police presumably performed a thorough search for Stevie.

I mean, really. Why would she need to be there? She had made the guy captain. Obviously, she's waiting for him in her castle by the sea.

I can't stop giggling about this! Perhaps we should start a thread "What Stevie Nicks forced me do!" Bizarre stories like this just goes to show the immense icon status Stevie has achieved.

You guys don't remember that "Docklands" outtake from the SA sessions?

And all the people who roam the Docklands
And all the ships passing through the night
And there are thousands of things that I have dreamed
Steal the boat in the daylight

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a foreign land
And there's a mirror I'm looking through
Lost in the place where I was born
Steal the boat, that's what you must do

This would have improved the song.

Girl, I can totally relate. Stevie has told me to do some outlandish things during my 30 years as a fan. In high school, I served a lunch detention for decorating the school cafeteria with paper flowers. I was once fired from a job for accidentally setting the Copy Room on fire. Honey, don't even get me started on what I did when I spent the weekend at The Imperial Hotel. To top it off, my neighborhood subdivision homeowner's association is now on my ass about all the forgotten Chimpanzee's that I've taken into my home at the request of Stevie and Jane Goodall......
