that doesn't mean that much, all people have to click like, doesn't mean they are buying records and truly supporting the band, as evidence of IYDs

Fleetwood Mac now exists purely to pad the retirement funds of it's 4 remaining members.I have pretty much given up hope that we will ever see anything creative from them again.I am grateful for Stevie releasing a very good new album just last year and for Lindsey's recent solo albums so clearly the two remaining writers in the band still have some creative juices flowing. At this point I'd much rather see them go it alone but as long as there is still some dinero to be squeezed out of the Fleetwood Mac franchise we are likely to see cash grab tours until one or more of them can go on no longer.

I'm kinda new to all this stuff, but if these other forums are closing down, is that good for the Ledge? New/returning members come to the Ledge?

I've checked out the Seven wonders site. It seemed very "Stevie" centered whereas I am "Mac" centered. Their "Mac" forums had very little activity.

I agree. Fleetwood Mac is dead without Christine anyway. I would like that Buckingham/Nicks album though.

There was very little activity during the IYDs drop on Seven Wonders. I knew people had lost interest in the website when the album was dropping. I think its sad, but they are at the end of the careers, so I guess I should of expected it. That used to be my favorite website.

My problem with SW was that I could never register. Every time I tried to get on that forum there was some kind of problem so I said screw it. The Ledge seemed to be where everything was at anyway.

I'm a member over there too. plus other FM/Stevie forums and other forums that cater to computer/electronics and radio/TV broadcasting .Heck with Face Book.I had to many problem with FB.

I used SW as a backup when the Ledge has server problems.

Facebook does not really seem conducive to a good discourse anyway.

I usually check both every day, but it seems lately there has been very little action on Seven Wonders. I had been posting occasionally. I was worried that this might happen. So I guess it's down for good?

Sorry to hear that another site's gone defunct. My message board died because people got bored.... and I got bored, too. I started getting interested again when they started doing new solo stuff, but it's not the same as my fervor at the height of Say You Will. There's nothing like Fleetwood Mac; it's greater than the sum of all its parts (IMHO). I'm not talking about the "Unleashed" trot-out-the-hits Fleetwood Mac, but the creative Fleetwood Mac.

Facebook does take a lot of traffic from message boards because it's so much simpler to hit "like" and make a one-line comment on an announcement than it is to think of a cogent reply on a message board to a more involved post. People used to come to the message board not only to chat but to get news, and now they don't need to get news here, so there's a drop off.

It's true you can't easily have meaningful and involved conversations on Facebook because once an item drops off the feed, it's forgotten - and most posts are news announcements, photos, and videos, things that aren't going to inspire a lot of deep thoughts.

That said, I enjoy the FM/Stevie/Lindsey Facebook pages a great deal and appreciate those who maintain them. They may not be conducive to discussion, but they do allow people to keep up to date and keep FM visible. Plus, those photos and videos are fun!

The lack of depth is a weakness of Facebook in one sense, but in another sense, it's a strength. Depth takes time and effort. I used to spend ages on LiveJournal typing out all my thoughts, but after getting used to doing one-sentence updates on Facebook, I gave LJ up because of the time it took. I did this in spite of the fact that what I was putting on Facebook wasn't nearly as deep. It makes me a bit sad that I no longer keep a ledger of my life, but every time I get the urge to go back, the time factor shuts it down. Facebook is easier and faster, and people like that.

However, Facebook has a lot of drawbacks, and I predict that eventually - just like MySpace - it will lose its appeal and folks will move on to the next thing. That may or may not include a return to message boards. Regardless, I hope the message boards stay around, if only for their archival value. That's why I haven't deleted mine despite the fact it's closed - the archival value of it.

People keep saying that FB will go the way of Myspace, but I don't see it happening. Just ask Google+!
I'm still a Ledge addict, but a FB one also. I honestly go back and forth, between which one is my favorite.
When I'm mobile, however, FB always wins out, because it's easy to read. For me to read The Ledge on my phone, I have to zoom in on every page, and swipe around all over it, just to read it, since it's not very small screen friendly.

Well, I'm probably one of the few who 'doesn't do FB & has no desire to. I like the message boards as well. There's nothing wrong with being a 'deep' person with alot of insight. Thats what life IS about really. How we share things with others & communicate those feelings. I agree depth does take time lots of time but isn't it better to be deep with feelings than shallow & not really care about anything?? Heck I remember writing fanzine letters that would be pages & pages long. Of course that was the 'old' snail mail days when I had penpals about Mac/Stevie. I do miss those days believe it or not. Getting things instant now by way of info can be nice but it can also be a let down too. So I do encourge you to not stop your depth of whatever you have that depth of feeling for.
