Sisters Of The Moon was not only on the Tusk tour, it's even on the infamous Tusk Documentary & Live Concert video. It was a staple of later Rumours shows, the Tusk tour and the Mirage tour. Why is it odd then that they would include such a showstopper and live favourite on a live video?

I'm not sure why Lindsey would be pissed, since Go Your Own Way ends the show before the encore, much as it did on recent tours And then he gets to seriously rock out on Sisters with a fantastic solo. And my three versions of the Mirage video (we are talking about the Mirage concert aren't we?), don't have Don't Stop on them at all.

Also, I have to say, knowing the Mac, I'm sure they approved that video before it went on sale. And it's got eight singles on there, four concert staples(I'm So Afraid, Sisters Of The Moon, Songbird and perhaps their most famous song, The Chain) and one album track (Eyes Of The World) from their, at that time, new record. How is that not a good setlist, with something for casual fans and hardcore devotees?

I agree with jbrownsjr, the fact that it's just the simple five-piece band playing, no frills, with plenty of drama and passion, is what appeals to me about the Mirage video.

The differences are:

1. That the players on the albums are Christine McVie, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham & Mick Fleetwood, rather than (insert numerous names of hired sessionists here). The aforementioned four have a lot more personality & the stamp of personal style in their playing than do the sessionists, who are self-trained & paid to supply a mainstream instrumental cushion that rocks no boats rather than to express highly individual & idiosyncratic sonic textures.

2. That the neobaroque splendor & the dainty miniaturism of the Mac's production style find a complementary haven in the cleanly controlled environment of the studio & the dynamically sensitive medium of the CD--& not in the cavernous sports arenas & amphitheaters of the live show, where such details are almost always lost amid greatly diminished dynamics & reverberative sludge.

I think, for both these reasons, the band's earlier approach--clean & detailed in the studio but jagged & aggressive onstage--made far better aesthetic & physical sense.

In the end, I just want something that sounds good to my ears... so I'm cool with it whether there are 12 people up on stage or five.

Well, yeah, I do, too. But five on stage is exactly what happens to sound better!

Actually, it's not that it's overdubbed, but that the video is a composite of two different night's performances. In fact, there's a really bad edit right before the last verse. So it's more of an editing issue than a dubbing issue.

Speaking of the Mirage video, does anyone have a good mp3 of Eyes of the World from it. I have to say it's my favorite performance of this great little song. I love the way they do the "Woooaa ooooh ooooh's" at the chorous rather than the subdued "oooooo's" and "eyes...eyes...eyes..." that they brought back for the SYW tour. I would also really love an mp3 of the Mirage video Blue Letter too, but beggars can't be choosers.

Honnestly, I didn't know that and I've never heard of the Tusk Documentary and Live Concert Video...what makes it so infamous? Also, I was watching 'The Dance' DVD last night and I saw Fleetwood Mac on that tour and it wasn't ANYTHING like what I saw on that video. Micks drums were heavier...the guitar and bass were louder..the whole thing sounded more like a rock concert rather than the soft, easy-going Dance DVD. Was the DVD concert specifcally done for the DVD/CD?

Yes indeed. It was set up in a highly controllable environment, a soundstage in Burbank, specifically to film.

God, you can really tell thats what they've done. It sucks too. I saw them on the dance tour and it was NOTHING like that.

Just because it's unavailable and its great. It's famous around these parts. It was released back in the early 80s and has been deleted ever since.
