Default Spinoff: What Stories Do You Want In A Stevie Autobiography?

So, no rules- your dream autobiography.

What stories have you heard pieces of, that you want more detail about?

What would an ideal table of contents look like for you?

Off the top of my head:

Chapters 1-2: The Early Years (Pre-Buckingham).
--Basic family/childhood background
--Her side of this story: http://www.khaldea.com/freakstreet6.shtml

Chapters 3-4: Fritz- Buckingham/Nicks
--What it was like working in that band
--How she and Lindsey grew closer
--College-- was she paying attention at all, or just going through the motions to please her parents

Chapters 5-8: 70's Albums FM/Rumours/Tusk
--A chapter on each "era"
--What it was like to become a millionaire
--Coping with fame
--Drug scene-- did she ever have any reservations? Total party girl from day one?
--Breakup with Lindsey-- was he as volatile with her as he was with Carol Ann?
--I need some confirmation about the lyrics of "Sara"/ Don Henley
--Friendship with Christine vs her eventually having her own entourage

Chapters 9-15: 80's Albums Eras
--Band reactions to her going solo, and her success
--What was it like for Lindsey & Chris to go solo and not have the same success?
--Juggling all her men
--I need a chapter about Kim Anderson. Oprah only made me *more* curious about what that was like for those few months
--Non-stop touring-- sending her dad home from a tour- what happened there?
--When she knew it was time to kick cocaine
--What did her family think of her drug use? Did they try to intervene?
--The Tango fight with Lindsey

Chapters 15-20: 90's-Today
--Klonopin (although I do think we know a lot about this)
--Coping with lower sales, weight being talked about
--Never having children-- talked about adopting in the 90's. What was the holdup?
--The Dance-- Silver Springs-- Thrown Down-- Lindsey-- Lindsey becoming a father...
--Popularity rising with TISL
--Coping with changes in the music industry
--Why the hatred of technology- while at the same time technology (youtube) brought Secret Love and Without You back into her hands
--No public relationships during this time? What's up with that?
--Reflections/ lessons learned / looking ahead

Another section telling the stories / inspirations behind each song.

I'm more interested in The Dance era and what happened (if anything) between her and Lindsey then.

I'd like a book that focuses on a particular era of her career. Like, a book about joining Fleetwood Mac up to the start of working on Rumours, perhaps. Or about the recording of Bella Donna. Or indeed, The Dance tour. I think that format would lend itself to a much more interesting, satisfying, and cohesive narrative than we'd probably get from a more all-encompassing "here's the big stuff" bio. But of course it wouldn't sell nearly as well.

Really, whatever she writes, I'll read and probably enjoy. But I'd especially like to see a more self-deprecating tone from her. We get glimpses of that these days, especially in recent interviews, but I think we're still used to the more perhaps-too-serious style of storytelling from her overall, and that just doesn't make for very interesting writing.

Robin. She's talked about that story many times before but I still have the impression she has lots of things to say about that.

I just watched the Through the Looking Glass documentary and Keith Olsen and Rick Vito were interviewed. I realized I didn't know alot of what went on in her life from Rock a Little through Behind the Mask. Keith said he dropped out of Rock a Little because Stevie was not fun to be around and Joe Walsh's influence there was not a good one. And Rick talked about his years in Fleetwood Mac and how important Stevie was to the band at that time. She had the fan base and that was part of the reason for adding her solo songs into the tour set list. I would love to know more about what was going on during those years.

^ That would be an interesting era to learn more about because, yes, she really doesn't talk about it. Maybe this will come off as a bit flippant, but do we think Stevie might not actually be able to remember enough from a lot those years to talk much about the specifics? Memories are subjective and self-editing at the best of times. Adding a drug haze to the mix... I wonder how credible or detailed anything about those eras would be.

It seems unlikely at the moment, but I wonder if Stevie would ever authorize a biography written by someone else, who'd incorporate perspectives from a number of different sources. That might work better.

I think some fans have been a little dismissive about this new documentary, but the new interviews are quite good, especially the ones from Keith Olsen and Rick Vito. Even NPR correspondent Ann Power's interview is well done. She is extremely eloquent and interprets Stevie's career moves so well.

I'm thinking YOU should write this book!

Realistically, she'd probably completely gloss over everything from 1985-1996. We'd be lucky to get a few romanticized re-tellings of the stories we've already heard ad nauseum, with plenty of "....." thrown in for good measure.
