I'm more interested in The Dance era and what happened (if anything) between her and Lindsey then.
"He fell for again, she watched it happen..." |
I'd like a book that focuses on a particular era of her career. Like, a book about joining Fleetwood Mac up to the start of working on Rumours, perhaps. Or about the recording of Bella Donna. Or indeed, The Dance tour. I think that format would lend itself to a much more interesting, satisfying, and cohesive narrative than we'd probably get from a more all-encompassing "here's the big stuff" bio. But of course it wouldn't sell nearly as well.
Really, whatever she writes, I'll read and probably enjoy. But I'd especially like to see a more self-deprecating tone from her. We get glimpses of that these days, especially in recent interviews, but I think we're still used to the more perhaps-too-serious style of storytelling from her overall, and that just doesn't make for very interesting writing. |
Robin. She's talked about that story many times before but I still have the impression she has lots of things to say about that.

I just watched the Through the Looking Glass documentary and Keith Olsen and Rick Vito were interviewed. I realized I didn't know alot of what went on in her life from Rock a Little through Behind the Mask. Keith said he dropped out of Rock a Little because Stevie was not fun to be around and Joe Walsh's influence there was not a good one. And Rick talked about his years in Fleetwood Mac and how important Stevie was to the band at that time. She had the fan base and that was part of the reason for adding her solo songs into the tour set list. I would love to know more about what was going on during those years.

^ That would be an interesting era to learn more about because, yes, she really doesn't talk about it. Maybe this will come off as a bit flippant, but do we think Stevie might not actually be able to remember enough from a lot those years to talk much about the specifics? Memories are subjective and self-editing at the best of times. Adding a drug haze to the mix... I wonder how credible or detailed anything about those eras would be.
It seems unlikely at the moment, but I wonder if Stevie would ever authorize a biography written by someone else, who'd incorporate perspectives from a number of different sources. That might work better. |

I want some funny Stevie tidbits. I want hear more about her crazy life. Like her everyday schedule. I want to hear about her shopping for babydolls and watching cartoons and making omelettes. I want to know when the last time she's dated was, and what the hell Stevie Nicks does on a date  I want to hear about FM on tour and what they do when they're not on stage. I want to hear something that we don't know for once.
Also, i'm kind of nosy and fascinated with Stevie's hot mess of a love life. I kind of want details on this stuff. I want to know what really happened during The Dance. And some chapters on who/what each song was about and the stories behind them. The drama and mystique around Stevie is one of the coolest things about her, IMO. She needs to cash in on that. |
Great topic!
I think for me I'd like a more detailed, intimate look of her past (personal and professional). Think Storytellers/Crystal Visions/Masterclass, with a unedited recap of what Stevie remembers. I was so impressed at how candid she was with Masterclass, a lot like IYD album, and I'm sure the docu (which I still haven't seen). Of course we all want to hear stories that we have never heard before. But, I'd like a more detailed version of events, such as:
Enquiring minds want to know more, fingers crossed that Stevie does release snippets of her journal someday. |
I've always wanted to know if her parents questioned her about her drug use. Not in a "very special episode" way ca. 1978, because, too late. But any of the times they were around her when she was obviously high, like the pictures of her with her mom at the awards in '77 or onstage in '82. Or when she went home after the Rumours tour and wrote Sisters of the Moon. She's said that her parents were strict if supportive, and I can't imagine someone like Jess not bringing it up before 85/86. They must have had an opinion because Stevie said they were both worried that she was going to be this 80-lb, burnt out junkie during the lean years. She'd basically become that by the time she wrote SOTM.
Why did she go to a plastic surgeon and not an ENT in '85 for the hole in her nose? Was she considering getting work done? If she had any moments before that when she thought she was going to die. I want the morbid stuff. You're Stevie ****ing Nicks, give me some drama. |

Realistically, she'd probably completely gloss over everything from 1985-1996. We'd be lucky to get a few romanticized re-tellings of the stories we've already heard ad nauseum, with plenty of "....." thrown in for good measure. ;) |
