Yeah, Dave posted that on his website for his upcoming album several months back. Everyone seems to like the quality of Stevie's voice on that clip, but are not particularly enamored by the rather cliche lyrics.

Yeah, I thought "yawn".

"Stevie Baby" intrigues me though.

Cliche lyrics? I love this song so far. The lyrics are deep and excellent. Her voice is excellent and they sound great together. This song seems to make sense, maybe that is cliche.

I feel like this could *maybe* be one that will grow on me. I'm not loving it right now...but I think it has potential...especially hearing it start to pick up a little bit with the drums.

I mean. The lyrics are true. I think both songs are kinda lovely. sigh. I think the whole album will be lovely.

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Yeah, I believe LukeA succinctly described them as very "Barney & Friends"

Well, OK, a nice enough little clip from a country-tinged duet. This, plus Secret Love and the Everybody Loves You (demo?) snippet still leave me thinking "yes, that sounds pleasant, and?" I sure hope the album has more engaging stuff in it, stuff that makes me go "wow", rather than "uh huh."

I was pretty freaked out by only hearing the clips of Everybody Loves You, Cheaper Than Free, and Secret Love. Not to mention the fact she's written a song about the Twilight series . But then I heard the entirety of Secret Love, and my fears have been quelled. Plus, we know Mike Campbell is involved in this project, so that means we'll have at least a token few rocking songs. I think this record will be good... Dave clearly "gets" Stevie, he's been tweeting that he listens to her back catalogue, and her singing voice on the finished version of Secret Love is better than she's sounded in decades. I think Dave has probably brought out a side of Stevie we haven't seen since the 1980s. Yes, I've been a skeptic since the beginning of this project, but now I have a different feeling about the whole thing. In her interviews, she just has the best, most balanced views of her album. And her singing voice just says it all, too. She GIVES A DAMN once again! I just think it's all going to be okay. Who knew? ME with warm and fuzzy feelings!

The song structure and the lyrics remind me of a nice ole Dolly Parton-ish ditty. I think it could be really good. The lyrical sentiment, judging just the clip seems to parallel "I Sing For The Things".

The more I listen to it, the more I'm reminded of "Insider"...

...although I still am not a fan of the lyrics.

Default DS interview with Studio versioin of "Cheaper Than Free"

http://l.wbx.me/l/?instId=fb368642-0...e-stewart.html

A friend sent me this link earlier today. At the end of the interview, they play Dave's studio version "The Nashville Version" of "Cheaper Than Free"

Check it out. It's very nice, especially on a decent system.

I didn't see the interview posted anywhere. He discusses what happened with "Don't Come Around Here No More...."

I have to say...I don't like these lyrics at all.
Even though it's still not the complete song, I don't see how anything can save it. The lyrics are just too...trite and cliche! Boo.
