OTOH, it's not like having extra musicians throughout the set was entirely new for the Mac in 1987. They had Nigel Watson on percussion in 1971 and Bobby Hunt, followed by Doug Graves, on additional keyboards in 1974.
Personally, my favorite BN-era boots are from the 1975-1976 shows. They had a raw energy that lacks, IMO, on any tour thereafter, regardless of line-up.
