Getting tickets directly from the venue, if possible, usually works out well. However, to get access to the Live Nation presale I think all you need to do is register with them and create an account - it's free. It's what I did for the Unleashed tour.

I'm generally a fan of just being online or on the phone at 9am on the day tickets go on sale, whether that be a presale or not.
