Cheerleader Gets A Flu Shot & Now She Can Only Walk Backwards or Run!

Oh my God. This is so sad and tragic.

Musicman408 11-01-2009 02:43 PM

Oh my God- that is soooo sad.....:distress:

jannieC 11-01-2009 09:47 PM

I have never seen anything like this. How devastating. I wonder if there will ever be anything to be done for her.

daniellaaarisen 11-01-2009 11:08 PM

This is unbelievable... oh my God.

There is some helpful information on the Center of Disease Control's website about H1N1/"Swine Flu"/vaccinations:

http://www.cdc.gov/H1N1FLU/

There's been a lot of news about Canada being hit with the flu--any Canadians here have comments?

I'm going to get a swine flu shot -- if they're ever available in enough quantity!

Stupid government can't even manage to distribute a flu vaccine in adequate numbers.

Ghost_Tracker 11-02-2009 03:57 PM

This is why it really pisses me off when the doctors and other health professionals are saying there's "no" risk. There's always a risk when it comes to vaccines, or at least there has been in the past, every single time. It seems to me that the risk tends to be very very low, but the doctors and governments have no right to try to obfuscate the fact that there is a risk. Seems to me they THINK they're doing the right thing - "More people will get the vaccine and so more people will be saved" - but i.m.o. they're just plain wrong - individuals have the right to have all the information before they make a choice that can affect their health.

 Elementary schools are getting hit hardest from what I can tell from news reports. It's making its way through universities, too, particularly in the dorms. There have been 2 deaths in the last week, both kids (13 & 15 :distress: ) with underlying medical problems.

I haven't gotten it. I haven't had a regular flu shot in about 15 years, and I'm not getting it this time around.

Yes, what she's going through is definitely "sad & tragic", but there's no proof that the flu shot caused this. It's sensationalist media bull****.

Just got back from the doctor's office. He thought I had swine flu and bronchitis... luckily, I just have bronchitis. Yay?

But it made me think of this thread.

My initial reaction as well (after I got over my shock for this poor girl).

gypsy4life 11-02-2009 07:57 PM

I've been feeling leary of these shots for a while. Now, I most certainly am. Poor girl.

Before anyone decides NOT to get a flu vaccination, please review this:

Bingo. Corellation does not imply causation. But I do feel really, really bad for that girl.

My kids & I all came down with the pig flu over the weekend. It's more fun than a barrel of mutant monkeys.

Which is to say...y'know...not.
