I am so sad right now....
On another message board I visit, one of our posters just lost her husband to cancer. I have never met them, but she posted on his condition frequently. He'd been sick for awhile, and they both fought so hard.
She'd write about the time they were spending together and they had such a deep love for each other and it was so apparent. They really had a beautiful love story....:( I just wish there was a cure for this horrific disease. I know Brian and Debbie have been through so much too. I just wish there was something I could do. |
I'm very sorry you are sad.

That is sad...My heart goes out to this person considering how close I was to possibly losing Debbie last January :(

Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts. He was still fairly young -- no older than mid 50s. They had one son, and he just got married a year ago, so fortunately, he was able to see his son get married. :(
I'm pretty sure our board will do something collectively for her. Flowers, a donation, something... |
Sorry to hear that...
We lost a member last year and also this year from cancer on my fave Justin Guarini board.
Perhaps, some cancer foundation can be next year's charity we donate to. Not only has it affected Brian and Debbie's life, but I'm sure we all know someone who's been affected by it. :( My grandmother had breast cancer and a mastectomy. |

I am terribly sorry for your freind. There is not a whole lot you can do for them except be there for them and support them through the whole up and down grieving cycle. It also serves to make you remember to try and be happy every day no matter what little b.s. is going on. We're not going to be here forever so in the grand scheme of things some of our problems can seem pretty small. Hopefully we will find a cure one day. I really think a lot of it is genetic predispostion. Once again, I am sorry. |

I think a lot of it is predisposition too. |
Toni
When I read this post I immediately thought in Toni. She was so kind few years ago, when she sent me some tapes from the Reunion Tour. She also sent me the NYC video that I assisted.
It was so sad when months later I started to ask about her (since she wasn't posting anymore) and learned she had passed away. She was so kind with me and we didn't even met or talked by phone. That was a ledgie friend. |

She had the type of surgery where they move some abdominal tissue up to the breast area to reconstruct it. They move your abs up to maintain the blood flow to the new breast. It is so futuristic! She said if she had to do it over she would have just opted for the implant because it feels so strange to her (her new stomach). She had put off going to the doctor and it had almost been 2 years. But her cousin died at 44 and it scared the hell out of her so she went to get her mammogram and they found the cancer. It freaked us all out pretty well. Thank God she is okay, she is only 50! |

I'm glad your mother is okay. My mother had a radical mastectomy in 1970 and never had another recurrence in her lifetime. I know a lot of other women who had it and have made it through just fine. The early detection really helps. |
